It appears after the first love scene correct? In Act 2. Then I think in Act 3 he wears hawke's family crest.

And I STILL don't quite understand what you're talking about...that little black thing sticking up from the top left in the picture?
I think I heard someone on the Fenris Discussion thread say something about thinking he was wearing a hawk feather. Fits with the family crest thing.
Anyway, with the ribbon, that makes sense if he's with FemHawke. Why would M!Hawke give him a red ribbon though?

Interesting idea, it being the feather of a hawk. It looks like a horrible mishmash of his textures rather than coloration though.
I doubt Hawke gave him the ribbon in the first place. (: Lady Hawke or not.

Yeah, it's certainly not a good feather, if it is a feather.
Well, it shows up after you romance him, and only if you do, right? So I simply assumed it was related in some way.

It is related. David Gaider mentioned it in the official Fenris thread that it's Hawke's favor. The scarf, that is, not the whatever-it-is.

My original musings about why a male Hawke would have a ribbon on hand are still relevent, then.

Yeah I still don't know what Gaider meant. So Hawke is marking her territory is she? or maybe he wants her to mark him?
Interesting.....because that doesn't happen with any of the LI that I know of.
Yeah I interpret it in the medieval sense, where he fights for her, not necessarily like a high school ring exchange. Not that it doesn't have romantic significance. It was a thing in courtly knighthood to be in love with a lady who was unattainable. Wearing her favor wouldn't necessarily mean they had a thing going, but that she was willing to honor him and he's fighting for her.AtreiyaN7 wrote...
I think it's the equivalent of a medieval lady giving her knight/champion a garter or handkerchief (or something else) to show her favor. I think it's the red scarf thing that is the favor itself. No idea what the black thing is.

What I like about it is that it shows him moving from sticking around because he wants to "turn and face the tiger" (nice image from Seheron there), to being motivated to stay for Hawke as well.
