PC Specs
intel i7 920 2.66 ghz
2 Ati Radeon Hd 4890 w/crossfire
12 Gb Ram
windows 7 64-bit

So when I first started playing Dragon Age 2 I was getting pc crashed with a blue screen stating Insufficient virtual memory. I then upped my virtual memory and those errors stopped.

Then I started getting pc crashes with a blue screen saying video drivers no responding.

So i started playing in Windowed mode. The game would freeze for about 10-20 seconds..and windows would say
" video drivers have stopped resonding and recovered"

I am running the latest video drivers and on the lowest possible settings with direct x 9. and still getting the issue.

I have completely uninstalled my video cards and drivers and reinstalled them.
Then i checked to make sure it wasnt just and over heating issue. And that is not an issue.
I have also tried a full game reinstall.
Same issue.

I have played many other games..including mass effect 2 and dragon age origins on max settings and not had this problem.

So im wondering if it is just dragon age 2 itself.

Has anyone else experienced this and/or have a solution?
Any help would be appreciated.

Hmm that's not a good sign. The last time I saw this happen... well... my gfx card broke down a few days later. Have you actually tried other games right now, so after you started having problems with DA2?

If any other games show similar issues or any issues at all that you didn't have before, that could be a sign you might have a hardware problem. If all other games are fine even when you try them now, then you may want to try upgrading / reinstalling your drivers.

I'm not an expert on ATI drivers, but I believe older version, especially pre-11.x don't work very well in DA2, so if you're still using those you should try and upgrade first.

yes I've played a Mass effect 2 for a few hours and on max settings since then and no problem.

On an added note.it seems to do it 90% of the time right after I load into a new area or in the middle of combat.
It has happened other times..but those 2 are the most common.

Hmm, might want to look at drivers, maybe other people on ATI can tell you which drivers currently work best on 4800 cards.

I had this problem with my GTX 580 because it came factory OC-ed and MSI didn't really test it well. I had to adjust the Core Voltage by 25 mv. The Blue Screen I got was because insufficient voltage causing errors. I would NOT suggest you play around with your video card voltage. Try posting on the ATI/Your Card manufacturer official site. I only adjusted it because the MSI Support People told me to adjust it. At 1025 mv I no longer have those crashes.
