Simply put, Hold Position doesn't work. If I go out of sight of my team, they come with, happilly dancing in the poisonous fog I was trying to avoid. I don't know if this has something to do with how i set up my tactics, but Hold Position should override EVERYTHING.

That also happened to me when i was fighting the boss at the end of year 1. I would tell them to move behind the pillars to avoid attacks and hold position, but they often would not do what i told them and move unnecessarily into attacks.

You have to disable their tactics to keep them from advancing to attack the boss. It seems the hold command doesn't override the tactics.

This has happened to me multiple times in all my playthroughs as different classes. They start coming along if I get too far away from them. In DA:O they never moved from where they were when I left them, no matter how far away I got.

As far as I can tell, my tactics do not conflict with the "Hold Position" command. As long as my companions are in sight, they will stand still (even my melee warriors). But if I run too far away from them a "catch-up-to-Hawke" command overrides "Hold Position". (even my ranged rogues will move for no reason, even if their enemy target is still in view)
