Why does every mage in Kirkwall have such easy access to a "forbidden" lore? Where are they all learning it? In DA:O you had to do some sketchy business in the fade or I think a tome could do it. Even Hawke can just pick up on it.
I am actually picturing the circle mages all knowing blood magic but having to pretend even from each other that they don't.

Mage1: Good day Ser. Lots of cuts on your arms today. [Hee Hee - if he only knew the dark truth of the power that I control!]

Mage2: Yes. ...Cats did it - or something like that.... RIght. [Haha! The power of Bilal flows within me]

Mage3: [Walks in, convering his bleeding gut with his hands]. Er, hi guys. I ... er... fell on a knife. Anyone have any bandages?

I'm not sure if this was to be a joke or not but either way it reigns true.

I have to admit, I'm cracking up at your post. I've just come to the point that Kirkwall is where all the demons hide. I mean they come right up from under the streets and floors.

If you're a mage, in Kirkwall and don't practice Blood Magic you aren't one of the cool kids.

It's a wonder they have access to it, isn't it?

Thanks for the laugh, fairly true though.

I'm surprised Hawke can learn different specializations with absolutely no training. I guess being a blood mage would explain how nobody noticed he was a blood mage the first few years he lived in Kirkwall. You'd think Cullen would have noticed being saved by an apostate, after all.

It probably got cut from the game because it was so rushed... but I'm pretty sure the crazy Idol you find in Act 1 (and it doesn't help that they imply the veil isn't particularly strong in Kirkwall to begin with) is responsible for everyone going pretty crazy.

People should read the Enigma of Kirkwall, the place have always been full of crazies.

Given Orsino has been in the blood magic himself, I can't imagine that the Kirkwall Circle mages found it that difficult to find out about blood magic. The real question is why, exactly, if Meredith is cracking down like crazy, she was able to just ignore it happening not just under her nose but practically in front of her eyes.

This is why I could not side with the mages in the end. Pretty much every mage you encounter in the game employs the dark arts. I thought it was a little silly because I really wanted to side with the mages. I do believe the templars oppress them, but I can't defend them if they are proving the templars right.

Cullen is well... cullen. He and Sandal are probably the only two people in all of Kirkwall who can be excused not noticing, due to sheer retardation.

Interesting thought. I guess that Orsino might have been training everyone due to the Templar threat. Which leaves a kind of "chicken and egg" argument over the whole thing.
