How do I edit and save a UTI file?

I had a great time with the original game's toolset, and actually created 3D models for weapons way back when for NWN. I've *just* started with the tools available for this game but I haven't been able to find how to edit a UTI file I've opened with pyGFF. It allows me to open, edit, and re-save savegame files but it only lets me view UTIs it seems. I want to make alternate appearrance and level scaling versions of my favorite gear to put in the override and share rather than bother with editing saves.

Any insights?

Just finished trying all the tools I still have on my hard drive since modding for NWN and no luck. Does no one have a solution?

I had to build my own tool to edit the DA2 UTIs. Until the toolset is updated, it's going to be a rough ride in some areas.

Any chance on releasing this tool?

I'm not prepared to do that, it's pretty messy...

Well, if I were to delve into pyGFF source (I haven't touched Python in years) and the file format particulars it could well take me a month of spare time coding rather than playing to come up with something useful.

@BioWare: Little utilities like file editors would be a *huge deal* if a toolset set is unlikely. Hell, release a 3D model import/export plugin for a file format that *blender* supports and I'd be your best-est friend *ever*!!!

Where are the UTI files even located?

designerresources.erf

I've only been doing tiny things like changing weapon/armor models, and hex editing is sufficient for that.

Isn't designerresources a .rim file?

1. Necro-much?

2. Yes, but that's irrelevant. You unpack it with pyGFF exactly the same as if it were an .erf.

3. The topic is irrelevant as well. Everyone now knows you can use TlkEdit to fiddle with .utis.
