I doubt that, those lyrium pieces are on many ceilings down in the deep roads that Hawke and co can explore under.

Heard someone a few months back in an Origins discussion suggest that Sandal might inf act be Dumat, the Old God of Silence, surviving in another form. Don't remember the logic behind it since Sandal appears to be simple-minded, not mute. Then again, if Bioware is planning to do anything with that character, I think some kind of Old God-related stuff or mystic dwarven magic/lyrium thing is probable, not something directly Fade/demon related.
I was thinking the same thing. A sleeping god in a body of dwarven boy. I also think that Flemeth could be also one of the dragon gods, trying to get her old mates back to the word by sending heroes in DAO and DAII to do different task to achieve that goal (Morrigan´s child being one of them). The big plan so to speak.

So the prophecy of Sandal will come soon eh?
I'm calling it now. It's Hawke flying on a dragon.

And then we'll cut back to reality. Maybe in his grand retelling of all things Thedas, Varric is replacing Riordan with Hawke.
