In my third playthrough (beat game once, doing 2 & 3 simultaneously with different classes and speech choices). I flopped my attempt at building a successful Reaver on Justice in Awakening so I am seeking advice this time around. The problem seemed to be the health penalties and quick deaths. Is it possible to make a "human fortress" Reaver who can effectively survive these health penalties with health to spare? I want to pick up Reaver at level 7 and Templar at level 14 for my warrior and am willing to use the potion to reallocate if needed. Looking for talent and skill point expenditure recommendations so I can succeed this time.

I only really feel that Blood Frenzy and Devour (with it's two upgrades) are the only standpoint talent choices in the Reaver tree. The other abilities either take too much to make worthwhile (Aura of Pain), take too much to get to (Frenzy), or just aren't really all that worthwhile (Sacrifical Frenzy).

And part of the decreased draw to the some of these talents are how good other trees are, namely Vanguard, 2H/SnS (depending on what you're playing), Templar, and half of Battlemaster.

Reaver's biggest benefit in DA2, in my opinion, is how much bang you get for your buck. You can just get the Specialty (+5% all damage) and Blood Frenzy and be perfectly fine. And then Devour is an on-demand Healnuke that can both open and close CCC.
