Hello,

To save space I am putting 2 separate questions into one post. They are both with regards to ACT 1 though. People who have FINISHED Act 1 are safe to read my post and respond to my questions.

1. After getting the "Talisman of Saarebas" I immediately equipped it onto Bethany because the description sounded really cool. But it didn't seemed to do anything! Is that because the effect is only for Blood Mages, and she isn't one?
But I tried equipping it onto Merill and I didn't see any visible difference to her stats either?

2. The Qerth Fight. OMG! This was so hard! First time I tried it I still had some outstanding quests and I think I was lvl 8 or 9 or something. So I decided to do all my other quests and leave this as the last one to do before I join the Dwarves. OMG! I got my ass kicked over and over again, even at level 11! Finally, I had to give in and LOWER difficulty to Normal - this made it too easy actually, as I was able to finish the fight without anybody on my team dying.

To date, the Qerth fight is the only battle where I had to lower difficulty to finish it. Right now, I just finished the Dragon fight in the Deep Roads (uh, the first one, in case there are more later on - don't spoil!) and nobody died - playing on Hard.

I was just wondering what other people thought of the Qerth fight, how they handled it, etc.

Blood Magic only applies to Merrill (Blood of the First must be active) or Mage Hawke with the Blood Mage specialization.

I have no memory of an enemy named Qerth. Where do you fight him/her/it?

Its a side quest. You know how in Act 1, as you run around town you are randomly attacked by "fake guards". You automagically get a journal entry that says these "fake guards" have a "fake leader" and his name is "Captain" Qerth. (LOL) Your journal tells you where he is.

Anyways it's certainly a poorly written quest but the boss battle in it is VERY challenging. I guess it's good that it's a "side quest" rather than a required quest.

Ah, see I missed a lot of those quests since you just have to run around the streets at night and fight bandits.

Tank + any 3 ranged.

Open door with tank, move to the side to pull everyone to the door itself.  Ranged are lined up and focus fire on Querth.  Once all the lowers are at the door, put the tank back, big attacks, drop aoe from mage.   Continue focus firing on Querth.  Once he dies kill the remaining archers and what have you at the door, move through the door once they are dead, go up the stairs and position range at the back.  tank in the middle of the 2 stairwells at the apex using line of sight to move archers when needed.  AoE, taunt, use the 2 other ranged to kill anything when 1 ranged is being attacked.

Yeah that Qerth fight was a **** for me, I went into it at level 8 and got smoked like a salmon. I came back at level 10. I went with bunching them up at the door and using walking bomb on one of them. I agree 1 melee and 3 ranged would be the way to go.

EDIT: Good lord, bit ch gets censored :|, how about bastard?

Qerth on hard is already hard, let alone nightmare.

He has three lieutenants popping up too, which means that you have to be real careful to make sure none of those attack one of your ranged.

Yes and the annoying thing is that the Lieutenants weren't "named" or anything, so you really had to pay attention to the length of their HP bar.

I really miss the color-coded "conning" of names from Origins.
