Does the patch correct any gameplay issues? Like the weird-functioning makers-sigh or some crash issues? if not, when do we get the next patch? I have issues not relating to the short patch notes which prevent me from playing any further at the moment because a lot of people seem to have different issues.

The 1.01 patch was a hotfix primarily targetted at Single-core machines being unable to save the game. The additional items in that patch (if you're looking at the notes) were just simple fixes that had 0 risk to cause any other issues. Anything that potentially affects any aspect of the game has a much longer pipeline going from us to you.
Depending on the crash issue you're refering to the most recent beta drivers that came out this week help a lot. I cant give any specifics until anything is finalized but I can tell you that the first bug fix patch is extensive and contains fixes to almost everything being mentioned on the boards (I would say everything but the quote button frightens me so I'll play it safe with the 'almost' qualifier)

i was playing it all week no probs. then it says updating yet its on a 100percent and has been since this morning and i have logged in out etc ect

sounds like a steam issue to me. try right clicking verifiying cache in local files tab of the game in steam

Happened to me. My directx 11 driver rolled back somehow and so I had to go to config and switch to directx 9 till I updated again.
