Can Dragon Age 2 contend for goty?

Oblivion would similarly annihilate DA:O.
Nothing wrong with Bioware games, but Bethesda games have a more universal appeal.

Can't comment on the quality of the game itself as I have the digital edition and Steam is still downloading ...

... if there would be no fallout of course

LOL in what? How bad it was without mods that pretty much made it into a completely different game? In that case yea Oblivion easily wins there.

No. Why?
Mass Effect 3
Skyrim
Uncharted 3
Deus Ex 3
LA Noire
Witcher 2?
Shogun 2?
Battlefield 3?
That's a lot of big games, which will more likely be candidates/nominees for goty.
And those all have potential for suckage.
Witcher 2 has quicktime events for one, who knows what other changes they made?
ME3, get's oversimplified! Or the ending sucks or something like that.
Skyrim, might just suck, more wooden characters speaking the same stuff as the next guy, without any PROPER dialogue options. Plus, the caves might get even more boring.
Deus Ex 3, linear gameplay, I heard the levels are quite the "pipe-dreams".
LA Noire, might just fail if the gameplay isn't that great or the detective work is done poorly.
Shogun 2, it's strategy game. Autofail @ GOTY. Strategy games can't get that!
Battlefield 3, because they are drumming it out to be more like BF2, fans get overly excited and then notice that it isn't BF2 and they freak out.
But I doubt DA2 will win the game of the year award. It's still a good game in my books.

Remains to be seen. I had high hopes for DA2 and was a bit disappointed. As I'm a bit of a pessimist, I would not wager on The Witcher 2 or Skyrim living up to their promise.
I am not familiar enough with Bethesda to comment on Skyrium, but I would sure put my money on the Witcher 2 living up to its promise and then some. CD Projekt is certain of its direction and holds its products and customers in VERY HIGH regard.

I have this impression, too. But I thought the same of Bioware once. But I'm giving CD Project every chance (already preordered the game).

From the company brought us Champions Online and Star Trek Online? Some of the biggest MMO disasters ever? Hah, yeah right. Neverwinter is going to blow, mark my words.

DA2 GOTY? Probably. Unless Kingdom Under Fire II comes out for all platforms this year and contains single player. Then it'll take GOTY.
Skyrim? Yes, it'll take GOTY on some sites but come on, they've taken the classes out of that game. If you thought DA2 was not an RPG and think Skyrim is, you're mistaken. Combat will be terrible as well like with all of Bethesda's games.
The Witcher 2? LOL.
ME3? Again, you know it'll get GOTY on some sites.
It's all down to opinions in the end.
so? it was always better and more efficient to make your own class plus, aside from a few stats bonuses you could still max out every skill you had. a loss? I suppose so, but not an astronomical one.
I enjoyed Fallout 3's combat greatly, which by the way also didn't have classes, so I think the combat will be improved upon.

I think you need to make up better excuses for why those games will suck.
