Maybe its because of the lack of rogue hawke in the promotions for the game but doesnt Rogue hawke just not feel as ........ Legendary as the massive 2H wielding or Giant Hand ripping Hawke.. Thoughts?

My highest hit on a Rogue was ~48k on a mage enemy with Assassinate. Big Numbers = Epic right !!!???

Heh, that beats my biggest (35k was highest I saw, missed a screenshot of it though). The numbers are fun, but it really just feels more epic to kill things like Ogres and Dragons in one hit. That and attacking really, really fast for ~400 damage crits constantly.

Also, I liked the little cutscene kill of the slaver that takes Feynriel. I didn't have the option to do this on my warrior... probably because throwing a 2H sword would be bad for a hostage. XD

Rogue Hawke's way more epic than the others.
I'd like to see a mage or a warrior teleport around the screen, & shiv the Arishok in the kidneys.

I will say this though: my rogue felt a bit weak early on, compared to say my 2H warrior. Late game though... whole different story. :P

How did you guys spec your rogue?
Highest number for my Assassin/Shadow was about 10-12k...

Early on, yes, feels less epic.

Later one, when he's a fully flushed out DW Duelist/Assassin teleporting around battlefield and one-shoting, well, pretty much everything.... very epic. I could easily clear whole waves, one strike one kill, in almost the same time it took the the rest of my team put down a Lt. No, they were not that gimped or slow, he was just that f'ing brutal.

And how do you check the numbers on the damage you've been putting out? Do you have to just turn it on and eyeball the floaitng numbers, or is there a combat log you can go back and check?

Im playing on the console. As far as I know you have to eye ball the numbers as they scroll up. Kinda wish the crits were sticky numbers though But the huge health bar dissapearing is a nice indication as well.

That said. My Rogue is beast. Way more involved than say the warrior and mage in my opinion, but all three are epic in their own way.

The Assassin tree is soooo much fun. I miss one-shotting guys with significant HP now that I'm playing a mage.

I go into detail in how I spec'd my rogue in that thread.

As for the really big hits, that's Assassinates on Brittle targets (400% damage). Often with Mark of Death and Hex of Torment for -75% damage resistance. Also, if you're not putting points in Cunning you lose crit damage (I had roughly 250% crit damage bonus at the end).

By the way, has anyone noticed that Assassinate seems to sometimes hit twice? I'll have to dig up a screenshot, but sometimes two different damages for it showed up.

EDIT: Here, found one I took showing this.

End boss was long and struggling on the harder modes with 2H than Rogue. I constantly had to check on my rogue playthrough I wasn't accidentally on Casual suring that fight because of the sheer amount of destruction he did in it. :D

Maybe rogue Hawke more single target damage, but i felt way epic nuking crap out of massive flood of enemies, blowing them to pieces in secs, maybe its just me.

I actually went with the Stagger + Vendetta combo from Duelist rather than the Brittle + Assassinate. Same premise with stacking mark of death and hex of torment. Does slightly less damage, but I LOVE being able to activate from across the battlefield and instantly tp'ing behind them to watch them explode. The instant tp puts it over assassinate in my book. Although I actually took both and used them back to back on the big bosses for an insane damage chain.

Yeah I went with duelist too. My biggest recorded hit was a meager 6000-something on Orsino though (which isn't so bad all things considered...), but having lieutnant assassins miss backstabs on me made it worthwhile for me. I tend to like more balanced characters that can handle themselves when the plan© invarriably goes wrong.:P

Rogue Hawke is more frustrating. Or at least at low levels. So many abilities and I don't have the talent points to get the ones I want.
