Minor annoyance, but I've noticed that when I target an enemy with one party member, ALL other party members use that target when I tell them to use abilities.
For example: I order my Hawke to attack an archer. Meanwhile, Fenris is fighting three enemies so I just tell him to use Mighty Blow and I assume he'll use it on the enemies he's currently fighting. But no, he rushes off to the same archer Hawke is attacking. Particularly annoying on nightmare when friendly fire is a reality.
Is it supposed to be this way, or is this a bug?
PS. Might be worth mentioning that I play the PC version of the game.

I was just coming to mention this very thing.
If I'm controlling one character, and select a target for some ability, that works fine. But if I then switch to a different character, who is already has some other target, activating abilities has strange effects.
The newly controlled character's targeting reticle (the double red circle) will correctly identify whichever enemy he was already attacking when I took control, and he'll keep attacking that enemy as long as I don't give him any instructions. This part is as it should be.
But, if I then activate some ability (like Mighty Blow), that character will suddenly take off in a different direction to attack the enemy last seleced by me, even though I was controlling a different character at the time. And if that enemy is already dead, the character simply son't respond to my instruction at all until I select a new target (even though he already had a viable target when I first took control of him).
This is not a minor annoyance. This is really irritating. The characters are not behaving in the way the UI is telling me they're going to behave.

I've noticed this a couple of times as well. I just make sure I manually select the target of each ability to try to avoid surprises like that.

We shouldn't have to. Targeting wasn't broken in DAO.

I didn't say it wasn't a bug.

So after some time since posting the last message in this thread, is there any solution to the problem? I experience the same problem with targeting, and its really irritating. Especially when I play nightmare difficulty and already twice happened that Fenris killed Hawke with Mighty blow special ability only because he used this ability on different target than he was ordered to.
Is there some way to avoid the problem? Or some patch that is going to fix it? Right now my only idea is to check the target of ability after unpause (by pausing again), but this is not always enough (sometimes the character is quicker and executes the action on the wrong target almost instantly).
PS: I play on PC using patch 1.03

using the Highest health tactic helps as does directing certain skills to certain class enemies, certain armor, etc... That's what tactics are for to get party members doing what you want you want them to do to whom you want them to do it to.

Well, but the problem is I dont like using tactics. They never seem to do what I intend to. I always play with tactics off, pausing and giving commands manualy. And even with tactics, when I¨d like to target my warriors mighty blow e.g. on a guy in the middle of the three adversaries with the same full health, who are standing in front of him, he may still attack the guy standing behind him, who is fighting Hawke, and hit Hawke by AoE aswell. Today it was the third time Fenris killed Hawke because of this:-( Anyway changing tactics every time I´d like to target someone with different conditions would be quite frustrating.
Still I consider this a serious bug and I´m surprised they didn´t fix it yet.

I was surprised too that it wasn't fixed by the latest patch.
In fact, French reviewers pointed this bug out when the game was released, so I wonder why so few mention it...
