I know they arent as powerful as they were in DO:O but i still left like i needed to bring along a healer and dps mage during my Warrior playthough. I'm thinking about making an Archer Hawke with Avaline tanking and Varric and Isabella. Think it'd work? or am i going to need to bump it down to Normal.
Playing on Hardcore is it tough to get by with no mages?

I'm pretty sure you'll be fine. I completed a hard playthrough with only Merril (no healer) and it was alright (didn't "abuse" her ability to tank through mass leeching with very high constitution either). I just had to craft a few of the more potent health potions for the tougher encounters, and mythal's blessing grenades for really tough encounters.
You might want to consider Fenris instead of Isabella or Varric, though. Warriors have more party buffs than rogues, but even so, you can certainly try.

I am thinking of doing a mageless playthrough.
I enjoyed playing as a mage in my first playthrough.
Now I want to play as a warrior in a mageless party just for the sake of variety...

full melee setup for nightmare right here: http://social.biowar...5/index/8225301
if you're not on nightmare you can get away with friendly-fire, so a few more warrior abilities/setups become feasible.
an all-rogue party suffers from a lack of cross-class combos and a lack of a tank. their high damage may make certain boss fights easier though.

With three rogues you should be able to kill anything Aveline can't tank very quickly. I think it's absolutely possible.

Rock Wraith I say no more without a mage will be difficult but not impossible after lots of frustrating tries. I would not even consider no mage on Nightmare!

Aside from harder difficulty mobs, what is the point of playing nightmare? there are no achievments for it, the gear doesnt get better (or does it) there are not more quests for the setting (Or are there?)
I dont see a point in playing on a game on harder difficulties if there is no point to it, aside from bragging rights... call me old fasioned if you want, but 3 classes, 2 sexes = 6 playthroughs thats enough for me... lol
