Well SB, I think that if you (and AreleX) have burned out to such a degree that it has become an enormous chore to post here, you should definitely stop.  Whining about how terribly tiring it is for you to have to deal with people who are all so much less clever than you is no more fun for anyone else to read about than the endless repetition of stupid questions are for you, I'm sure.

AreleX asked why people kept making a particular mistake, I suggested some very minor changes to the layout of the post that might help cut it down.  You might well disagree with my suggestions (although nobody actually has) but saying that it is somehow presumptious or ungrateful of me to even make a suggestion is simply arrogance on your part, not to mention it is incredibly ill-mannered.  It's not like I was making a suggestion for my own benefit, this was entirely about trying to cut down junk going to AreleX's inbox and spam in the thread.

I know you weren't being serious, but encryption as an intelligence test/entry requirement?  The only result would be a deluge of posts from people who couldn't figure it out, asking how to decrypt.  If you want to reduce your own support load, making information less accessible is not a strong strategy.

There are always going to be stupid, lazy people.  Stacking the deck so that they come and bother you directly as little as possible is pandering to no-one but yourself.

Kal your original post sounded quite facetious to me. If you want to be constructive why not pm a person instead of telling them how wrong they've done things in an open thread.

What the flaming hell are you talking about?  I haven't told anybody they've done anything wrong. AreleX just asked how people kept missing stuff, and I answered.  It really isn't very complicated.  People are lazy, they will scroll through the post just far enough to find what they think they need and no further, and the result is they end up posting questions here about the wrong build.  If the newer information was earlier in the post, then that's what they'll hit on first and it would reduce those particular types of questions.  Yes, it is their own stupid fault for not reading the post properly, but this is not about making things easier for lazy people, it's about reducing the number of stupid questions that get posted here.

My post was intended somewhat facetiously.  I'm glad that came across.  I know AreleX is already burned out and has very little interest in doing anything to these guides any more, and I never really expected him to actually make any changes.  That's why I included the line about, "do nothing and mock the stupid people".  I was just answering the question.

I write technical and end-user documentation for a living; it's extremely boring, but one of the ways I am measured is by the reduction in helpdesk call volume for my products.  Sometimes just changing the order of a few paragraphs makes a huge difference to the way people absorb it.  It's just how people are; you can rail against it all you like but it's not something you can change, you have to work with what you've got.

I am appalled that a politely worded suggestion for a very simple editorial change that made absolutely no comment on let alone criticism of the actual content of the post has been met with a reaction akin to had I set fire to someone's puppy.  This is not rational behaviour.

either way, my original statement was rhetorical. my patience for stupidity and laziness has been eroded very quickly over the last month. most of you are a bunch of ingrates with a misplaced sense of entitlement, and i'm not dealing with that. i don't owe any of you ****.

[EDIT] *feels guilty for not saying anything serious* I like AreleX. His guides, and those of his colleagues, even the worst player, are the only things worth reading in the gameplay forum. As someone who has to update her readmes constantly, keep changelogs up-to-date, answer questions from illiterate meatbags who don't see the "installation" header in the documentation... I know exactly where they're all coming from. So, I don't expect him to completely reorganize the OP, because that's a lot of hassle for the sake of... who? People who can't be bothered to read that current patch information is down the page a little bit? Those people don't deserve help.

@Kal: I don't think your suggestions were at all acerbic. I also don't think that anyone has reacted to them as if you've burned a puppy.

I don't think we've talked much beyond me posting to say thank you for your excellent guides and the time you've invested in them, but I have been following you since your ME2 guide at least.  I don't really remember.

@Ishmael - thank you for that.  Perhaps I am just being oversensitive.  I usually save the puppy burnings for Wednesdays.

we are not burnt on posting, were burnt on people telling us how to post, edit, re-edit the guides we have taken the time to write, edit, re-edit, then re-vamp because of patch. I have even edited Arelex's tactics myself in all 3 of his DA2 guides.

As I am used to Arelex's persona, I knew he was only venting and not actually seeking advice. He tends to leave that to a pm or a very clear crafted post.

In the end, I really dont care either way.

Just wanted to say thanks for th guides! I have used your mage guide and this guide, to help me progress thru the game, and saved me a lot of time and trouble by figuring out what's good and bad in this game!

just to let every console players know specially the ones who's playing with patch 1.03...

to AVOID the SUNDER BUG , EQUIP your character with a SWORD or SHEILD , BEFORE you SAVE , and then just switch it back to 2handed sword when you load your game or continue playing , DONT EVER RELOAD YOUR GAME FROM AUTO-SAVES , and i suggest u save frequently , i know this is a pain in the arse and annoying , but this is the only way to keep that passive critical bonus from sunder!

and lets just say u fckd up your save file or re-load , and you dont wanna go all the way back on do all over everything again from your last pre-save ,,, use a maker's sigh potion , dont build your character yet , save your game , load that save, the bug is removed , then build your character!

so far... idk what to do with Fenris though? either way i dont use him and i dont like him! XD

I don't see Varric Ability truce or Anders ability summon Ser pounce a lot in the title post :S have the abilities been renamed or do i not yet have them al-viable

Anyway, truce is the upgrade to armistice. It just reduces the cool-down for armistice. I wouldn't have thought it necessary but w/e, this isn't my guide

I've seem to have som problem with the Anders tactics, he doesnt seem to heal, and ive set up the tactics like you posted ( the second one) nor does he takes potions, is this perhaps a bug?

Do you have the dog summoned? That can interfere sometimes.
