Also wondering why you're not running Wrath of the Elvhen on Merrill.
Great guide, love the build, Thanks for posting all this.

Add to that the fact that his dialogue is reeeeeeeally starting to annoy me. I've never met a more hypocritical whiny game character before in all my years of gaming. I've quit trying to get friendly points with him because he's just a douche. I'd swap him out if he didn't synergize with this build so much.

I also made a small guide to go along with it, so check it out after you watch. If I catch any of you kiting in this fight, I will be VERY disappointed!

Two-Handed
Mighty Blow (with Killer Blow upgrade)
Scythe
Giant's Reach
Sunder
Vanguard
Might (with Muscle upgrade)
Control
Cleave (with Claymore upgrade)
Destroyer
Massacre
Battlemaster
Bolster
Second Wind (with Last Push and Deep Breath upgrades)
Deep Reserves
Reaver
Blood Frenzy
Devour
Sacrificial Frenzy
Aura of Pain
Fevor
Beserker
Beserk (with Endless Beserk and Savage Beserk upgrades)
Barrage (with Unrelenting Barrage and Resilient Barrage upgrades)
Adrenaline
Death Blow
As you can see I had all of the core damage talents (except the upgrades to Adrenaline, which I rarely ever used), and still had room for the Battlemaster talents which I found to be extremely helpful on Nightmare since the Orsino and Meredith fights were rather lengthy. Also, I ended up building the Reaver talents first during my leveling up because I found I got more out of the passive Blood Frenzy and Fevor and activating Sacrificial Frenzy/Devour as needed, and by the time I was able to max out the Beserker tree I had the stamina to sustain Barrage and Beserk. I know Arelex advocates rushing to Barrage (which really is what makes this build shine) and that works perfectly fine as well, but Blood Frenzy and Sacrificial Frenzy early (with Devour heal) is another way to go after you have Cleave/Claymore.
Thanks for all of your hard work fleshing out the nuances of this build, Arelex. If not for that first Youtube clip set to the Forces song I probably wouldn't have tried this out

(though I wouldn't complain about money or invites to open bar events)

How can I exactly get The Vague Blade? I know it's found in the quest "The Last Holdouts", but I can't find many information on that quest. If you didn't pander to the Templars throughout the game, you won't be able to pick up The Vague Blade

My damage numbers are still far from those in T0rin3's video...

Even though I support SnS, I'm using a 2H Build currently. I think I'll go back to SnS to try a build using Reaver first.

Party was Anders (Full Healbot), Merrill (Primal Blood Mage), and Isabela (which required a bit of extra pausing to get her to get out of my way). Went great, but I guess this isn't a berserk vanguard, hehe.

I'm glad you did! I figured that some people would hate the song, some people would find it OK, and the people who knew of Berserk would REALLY LOVE IT, and the meanings behind its use.
Yes indeed

I just have to say...after watching your video earlier...that was BADASS! lol. I also like the tunes you use in your videos...not just the DA 2 ones but the ME 2 ones as well( now I'm gonna have to play a vanguard in ME 2)!

I am at start of act III and just lightly touched some battles, but boy this is soo much fun! I had to return the difficulty from normal back to hard (I played on hard first 1.5 acts with occasionally dropping diff bar for some fights) it's soo easy to breeze through the npc's.

I’m not looking for strategies, those are dealt with elsewhere, but I learnt two things when selecting the duel option last night:
1. I am nowhere near ready for Hard, never mind Nightmare;
2. Arishok, translated, means “When I hand you your arse on a plate, do you want fries with it?”
No pause, no kiting seems impossible with my limited skills.

Good call! Here's a link to my Mass Effect 2 Berserker Vanguard guide/thread/videos, if you or anyone else wants it:

This may be slightly off-topic in terms of the actual guide, but what is
the best option with this build for the Arishok, duel or party?

I'm approaching that fight on my current playthrough, I'll try to make a vid/guide when i do.

You could use Sebastian instead, but his Friendship passive is bugged, so you're kind of stuck in a rut (unless you're willing to mod your save to get rid of the glitch). I think that once you have Merrill set up to her full potential, you will be able to overlook her...imperfections ( >=( ), becauseif you really want to get the most out of this build, you'll need her.
If you can't, I'm currently testing out alternatives, and will update with my findings.

After reading over this guide, is there any significant difference between going with the sword+board spec over the 2H? I don't really like having an AI as a tank and thought this would be a good option.
You'd be best to direct this question to someone like Anubis, T0rin3, or jslamlaw. Off the top of my head:
- Better defense/tanking capabilities for SnS
- More Range for 2H
- You'll burn through stamina faster playing SnS
It really comes down to preference, as the difference isn't remarkable. I will say one thing for sure: you look like significantly less of a hardass playing SnS, and isn't that really what this is all about?

Yeah, you probably have a good point there as that was one of the main reasons I played a Vanguard in ME:2 as well. Still, I'm all about what's most fun and "epic" to play. Being an archer was fun at first but it got dull rather fast.
