Nice find. So if either of them are in friendship and either of them are in your party at least once. You can never remove them when you save the game? Or can I save the game with them in my party and remove them once I load the game back without having to worry about this glitch? Or do I need to always have them in my party for now on once I have their friendship?

I am not sure if I understood the question...

You can have any party members you want while playing, but it is when you save that you must have either Isabella or Sebastian in your party.

As you can see this can get pretty annoying as you may be doing a long quest that does not require them but you can't save during the quest because they are not with you.

Hope this helps

Thank you. Though I guess that also means that at any point I die, I can never load an auto save or else I am screwed. Right?

No you cannot load ANY SAVE FILE unless seb/isa are in the party otherwise you will get the -5% penalty

This makes a lot of sense because she was always my rogue when I was on my mage and halfway through Act 2 I took her out in my Rogue playthrough. That's the time it happened. This sucks though, that means you basically always have to have Isabela and Sebastion in your party. Or go through the hassle of making sure never to save and quit in a dungeon or anything of the sort; then making sure to change up your party in town then save and quit. This game's glitches are so obnoxious...

Edit: So, can we save as often as we want without them in the party, but just make sure not to actually load that save?

So now i have to decide to wait a week for a patch, or replay 16 hours to back to where i am at the moment, avoiding the bug. BW should really just focus on this particular bug and release it asap, as it is the only game breaking bug at the moment.

Also to clarify, does this mean i can't load save games from the hawk estate? I must be in a party with Isabella when i load?

That's what I was wondering as well I'd just assume that you shouldn't load from the estate as it would probably cause the bug to happen. Don't know for a fact but that's what I'd assume.

No you cannot load from estaste as they won't be in party. I now routinely return to my estaste pick Isabella/Sebastian and save outside. It's a pain in the *** but it means I can keep playing. If you have more questions add my gamertag XcS S0ulS7orM and I'll be happy to talk people through this.

Just wanna say that you're awesome. I was able to somewhat fix my rogue Hawke by drowning him in attack speed + gear, the speed rogue sustained ability, and haste; but now in future playthroughs I wont have to worry about not having isabela or sebastian to avoid the glitch.

No problem. A lot are still confused as to the cause of this so I just thought I'd explain for everyone. Now people can actually friend them.

Yes, you can save as many time as you want w/t them in your party...But if you load these files in which they are not in your party you get the penalty. The more you do it the worse it gets.

Just found some more info that I haven't seen posted here. Apparently the problem happens when Isabela is forced out of your party. (ie: entering home). This causes Isabela to leave the party but does not deactivate her friend buff. Now evertime you load without her, it subtracts that 5% but fails to remove the buff. That means you keep losing 5% every time you load.

However, I just tested it out and if you add her to the party (let the party appear) and then remove her again manually, it will remove the friend buff from Hawke as normal. This should allow you to play from then on without her in the party and not lose speed everyitme you load the game.

I tested this very thoroughly before coming up with my theory and I can assure you the problem is caused by loading without them. Having her forcibly removed will not cause a problem unless you then save without her, as then loading this save will cause the bug.

That isn't my point. I am telling you that the reason the buff gets stuck on you in the first place is because she gets forced out. Go ahead and test again if you doubt me. Put Isabela in your party and then exit the party screen to normal. Check your abilities. The buff will be there. Go to party formation again and take her out. Exit to normal and check abilities. It will be gone.

Now put her in your party again so that the buff will be back. Now enter your house to force her out of the party, and check your abilities. The buff will still be there.

I am not trying to say it her being forced out that causes the loss in speed. That is just what causes the buff to glitch. It is then loading with the glitched buff that causes the speed to decrease.

Yes but on leaving the house the buff disappears (or stays if you pick her again). So as I have stated in earlier posts do not save in your house. Also as my full in depth description explains only save if Isa/Seb are in active party (if they are friends.)

Ok so I JUST recieved Isabella's ability upon talking to her in the hanged man. I then immediately went to the change party icon by the door to deactivate her ability and remove her from my crew. I selected a new crew without her. In your opinion do you think the -5% will keep stacking even if I dont select her for missions? Id hate to proceed through Act 2 AGAIN just to get towards the end and have my character move like hes a 90 year old women doing tai chi.

BTW regardless of whether you can help or not it must be said that you have shown more dedication to helping people fix this so far than the clowns who caused this problem. It is much appreciated.

You should not have a problem as long as YOU ONLY SAVE AND LOAD while she is in your party. Other than that you can use whoever you like, whenever you like.

Well technically you could save without her as much as you want. You just have to make sure that the only ones you load have her in party. In other words, I could take her out and save 17 times and then put her in and save once and then load that last save with her and there will be no problem. Otherwise every auto-save without her would kill your speed. So, just put her back in before you save to end it.

It's as notinterested said. You can technically save without her in the party but you can't load them or you'll suffer the bug. You need to ensure you only load files that have Isa/Seb in the active party. To avoid accidently reducing your stats I would advise you only save when they are present, then the only files you could possibly load are safe.
