Hey guys, I was just wondering what would be some easy ways to set up the class combos, Im leveling Hawke as a two handed weapons warrior and usually have a mage to heal and another to deal damage in my party. Any suggestions or advice?
much appreciated:whistle:

Well here's how I have my party set up:
Hawke: Rogue - Focused on Dual Wielding and Assassin Trees, made sure to pick up and upgrade Fatiguing Fog though
Fenris: Focused on his unique tree and the Two-handed attack tree, made sure to pick up the ability that gives him a chance to stagger on every hit
Merrill: Focused on Elemental and her Unique Tree, particularly made sure to upgrade her Ice spells for the Brittle effect
Anders: Focused on Healing and the Spirit tree's damage branch.
So Hawke can Disorient using Fatiguing Fog, which Anders can exploit with Walking Bomb and Spirit Bolt
Fenris can Stagger which Hawke can exploit with Explosive Strike
Merrill can make enemies Brittle which Fenris can exploit with his abilities.
See how that works?
Just look in the talent trees for which abilities cause which debuffs (Stagger/Brittle/Disorient) and which ones exploit them and try to spec your companions to maximize the opportunities to cause and exploit them.

Every hit or only when activated? I'm not sure which passive ability gives this.

Passive is always on.

Its in the Two-Handed talents, called "Sunder"
Looking at it I was slightly mistaken - its a change to Stagger on critical hits

Cross-class combos seem like too much of a bother. I can never remember which abilities combo with which, while combat is too fast for me to recognize opportunities for combos. I'm still on my first playthrough so maybe I'll use them more in the future but right now they just give me a headache trying to figure out.

Just identify one or two that would be easy to achieve with your current party, and try them out. High damage combos are generally not very useful on anything less than a lieutnant-level enemy, but it's worth using them to quickly get rid of assassins and mages that could cause you a lot trouble if left unchecked.

Make sure to get Sunder early for your 2H warrior to make lots of STAGGERED enemies.
Build Merril in Primal to get the CCC upgrades for Chain Lightning, Petrify, Stonefist.
Build Anders to get Regroup and then the CCC upgrades for Chain Lightning and Petrify asap. Two mages with Petrify and Chain Lightning has been extremely helpful on my Nightmare playthrough.
If you go with Varric as the rogue, get the Disorienting Shot and Shattering Arrow upgrades asap, as well as Blindside and Kickback when you have time.
When I get attacked by two Assassins, I petrify both of them and Fenris knocks one down to size with Mighty Blow while my Hawke Rogue can sometimes two-shot the other one with Shattering Arrow and then Annihilate. Usually the assassin gets staggered by Fenris and then I cast upgraded Chain Lightning for 1000s of damage.
@mmfxpower - it took me a little time to figure them out, but they are absolutely essential on Hard and Nightmare. I'm seeing lots of enemies take 3000-4000 damage with these combos. Take a look at this website that lets you try a sample build of each party member with tips for cross class combos:

A stagger happy warrior and 2 chain lightning mages is really all you need.
At the same time, with the 2 chain lightning mages, you can add in 2 petrify/ice for the stagger happy warrior to mighty blow.
Also, a lot of people forget, in order to recieve the bonuses to damage the ability has to be upgraded to either cause the status effect or take advantage of it. Regular chain lightning isnt enough, you have to upgrade it to make use of stagger.
