I think I have the terrain mostly done. After I get a better feel for the rocks, I'll start painting in the textures.
Lessons learned so far: Do the terrain blocking last. Much to easy to break it by adding stuff in and making small tweaks to the terrain.
Comments are welcome and encouraged.

Once this is done I'll put it up as a resource for area builders.

Called such because the lake for some reason reminded me of a footprint. This is my first serious attempt at creating a level in DragonAge. The theme of this level is a small farm settlement in the foothills.

Could you possibly list what resources you used for reference in learning the level editing tools? I really haven't seen many decent step by step tutorials (on the tools wiki or otherwise)... and you seem to have a good grasp on the mesh editing for terrain... hopefully you can point the rest of us in the right direction.

As for reasources and such, I'm working on a comprehensive technical guide to to the terrain editor: social.bioware.com/wiki/datoolset/index.php/User:Languard/Sandbox It's not done yet, hence why it's in my sandbox area. Once that's done, I plan on doing a detailed article + video on terrain creation. As for what I used...lots of experience editing terrain meshes and a Wacom tablet

First, thank you much for the kind words

I also love maps, I've been creating them on and off for over 20 years. For existing resources I've read every document in this category: social.bioware.com/wiki/datoolset/index.php/Category:Level_layouts. Oh, and I've probably made around 10 or 12 through-away levels just playing around with the tools getting a good feel for how they work.
thnx.
