KOTOR 2. But even that was not bad.
Considering it was made by Obsidian, KOTOR 2 Fail to be a BioWare game because it's not.
The Witchers is also a Pretty bad BioWare game since it has been made by indies Pollacks

I'd say it's a toss up between Mass Effect 1 and Dragon Age: Origins. I love both games, but I *hate* replaying them. ME's uncharted worlds are dull as dishwater, and Origins lackluster combat, ugly character models and the Deep Roads segement just wear me down now.
But then I always preferred Jade Empire over Kotor.

Absolutely. Even Sonic had its fun art style.Maria Caliban wrote...
If expansion packs are included: Throne of Bhaal.
ToB just had some engine improvements and that story. That awkward story. And speed-date romance. And Melissan's dialogue. And her pre-evil VO. And Cespenar.
But I do think its redeeming feature was the updated engine, which really did improve SoA. Watcher's Keep was fun for what it was too. So I'm glad it exists, overall, but I still say it's the worst content-wise.
Shadows of Undrentide was also pretty unmemorable, but I don't have bad memories of it like with ToB, so it's probably at least a little bit better.

The worst would be NWN1. Why did I *have* to save that city again? And who are these "henchmen"?

I'd like to see a second Jade Empire as well (including the Galaga clone mini-game), despite me rating it as Bioware's worst game. That rating is largely predicated on the combat and the severe lack of companion interaction. Also...I dislike games without a party, and JE's excuse for a "party" isn't even worth discussing.FitScotGaymer wrote...
I dont get the Jade Empire hate...
Maybe its the whole not understanding the eastern culture thing; I dunno.
I loved JE. Keep praying for a second one. Loved the whole eastern thing, and the combat wasnt the worst combat in a BW game (that dubious honour belongs to DAO actually which after the second playthru slow, boring, repetitive, unbalanced, and annoying).
Okay so it is really hard to make combat not boring and repetitive after one playthru. but there are degrees. As long as it doesnt touch "annoying" or "irritating" at any point like the combat in DAO or BG/BG2 sometimes does then it ranks higher automatically.
The fact that JE has the better storyline than DA2, had less bugs, had better companion interaction than DA2 (that is the interaction outside of romances), and the combat being -almost- as faced paced as DA2's means that JE comes above it for me. Lots above it lol.
Also, I thought the character models looked really weird, I disliked Skye's VA, and I hated feeling forced to take Dawn Star with me (as she was the only character that gave even remotely useful combat bonuses). I hate respawning enemies, too, and those stupid ghosts in the cemetery respawned constantly. Character-building was also fairly poor in JE, as how you leveled your character didn't really matter that much (though it's possible it matters on Jade Master difficulty...only having beaten it once, I never played Jade Master, though I played the highest difficulty available to me).
I actually rather like JE's story and think it had the best twist of all the Bioware games (though KOTOR was spoiled for me, so I'm not a perfect judge), there were just so many issues with it otherwise that I really didn't care for it that much (I've only finished it once, several years ago, and couldn't play it again right away, and wanting to do that is, to me, the sign of a great game. Now, it won't run on my new PC, so...I'll likely only ever have finished it the once.)

Allowing that I said my top 5 were really tight, and fundamentally I agree with you on JE (but the combat was so easy that I didn't think it mattered), we basically agree.Vaeliorin wrote...

Thank you for making the distinction between games and RPGs.
First, by having the gameplay UI disappear and reappear based only on meta-game status differences, the game is drawing attention to the fact that it's a game, and I don't want that. I literally don't want to be aware that I'm playing a game. I want to stay in character 100% of the time.ishmaeltheforsaken wrote...
I'm confused... do you view the lack of a dedicated conversation interface as a positive or a negative? I can only interpret your comment as a positive, which piques my curiosity. What's wrong with the conversation interface from KotOR on?
Also, the dedicated conversation interface tends to encourage developers to be all "cinematic" with visual effects like lens flare and shallow focus, and that again only serves to place an artificial (and unnecessary) barrier between me and my character. If I want to focus on some guy in the background because I think he's important, I'd like to game to let me do that. If the game uses depth of field effects to draw my attention somewhere else, that takes me out of character.
Also, I object to the use of the term "cinematic" to describe these features. Even though I oppose attempts to make the games more cinematic - if I wanted cinematic, I'd go to the cinema - many classic films used the equivalent of a very deep focus. Watch Gone with the Wind; the backgrounds in that are incredibly detailed and clearly visible dispite their apparent distance from the action (I say apparent because they were actually painted backdrops).
BG2's story suffers for me because it places one quite large constraint on the PC's design. For the story to work, the PC needs to care about Imoen.Beyond that, I can only comment on your views of the games' stories. As I said, that's the most important factor that puts BGII on top for me. It pains me to see you disparage it so! (not really, but I have very low opinions of KotOR's and Origins' stories).
KotOR places effectively no limits on character design (which is why I rank it so highly despite its awful party-control and relative lack of overall size), and DAO's limits are fairly specific (the game doesn't support some motivations that are unrelated to being a Warden, particularly those relating to the disenfranchisement experienced by City Elves).
BG wins overall because it contains most of the good features of all of the other games, plus it's the only one with a world design that supports open exploration.

The only reason BG and BG2 don't rank higher on that scale is because of how much I hate 2E D&D. If KOTOR, NWN, BG and BG2 all used d20, it'd be more like DA>BG>KOTOR>BG2>NWN (though that's just looking at NWN + expansions, and largely because of the lack of a party. If we included user-created campaigns and online play, as well as toolset use, I'd probably rank NWN 2nd behind DA.)Sylvius the Mad wrote...

For me, it's a tie between DA2 and DA:O. Origins was an A- story and C+ gameplay, and DA2 is a C+ story and an A- gameplay.
Kinda this^^^ I'm struggling playing through a second time. It was hard to play Jade Empire a second time too. But I actually liked the Jade empire story a bit better.
I've played ME1 over 10 times....complete
I'v e played KOTOR over 40 times... complete
I've played ME2 over 5 times... complete
I've played DA:O over 5 times... complete
This is not to let you all know how boring my life it but how much I loved the above games.
