You need to get up to 50% in Friendship or Rivalry in Act Two, and she'll be at the manor. That's when you can romance her. I believe it's the same for the other companions as well.
what he said also don't forget to pick some flirt options. i'm not sure but i think you only need to flirt with her once but just in case do 2/3 flirts.
You can flirt with her when you greet her for the first time in her home at the Alienage in the Act I quest Welcome Home, and you can flirt with her further in Act II during the quests Mirror Image, Back From Sundermount, and Questioning Beliefs.
The Act I quests Act of Mercy, An Errant Letter, Enemies Among Us, Finders Keepers, Sheperding Wolves, Tranquility, and Wayward Son all have the possibility of giving Merrill Friendship points. You can also gain points by telling Fenris that it's "wrong to oppress mages" when you take him to the Gallows for the first time (with Merrill as another companion).

Everything about her is marvelous... but her face.
Sure she uses blood magic, but unless you intend to control the minds of others (not that you can influence a strong willed one anyways) there is no real problem with blood magic.
Except necromancy, but if there is no brain function on the corpse during this spell I fail to see any ethical problems with this either.
No brains = hear no evil, see no evil, talk no evil (hard to talk when your tongue has rotted out)
Summoning demons isn't particularily smart thing either, but I've yet to meet a demon that didn't honour the agreement it made me in Dragon age origins or 2.

I asked her to move in with me and the dwarf says she lives in the manion however Merrill is never there when I stop in. Does she actually move in as in we get to see her in our house?
Yes, she moves into your home in Act 3 after completing A New Path.

I just flirted with pretty much everyone and then after sleeping with Isabella slept with Merril and we became lovers, didnt find it hard to do at all.
I'm in act 2 and slept with Isabella too but I try to romance Merrill all the time and still haven't got any romance options <_<

I kinda want that for the drama - you had a casual fling with Isabella but she wasnt sure with you as you are with her at that time so she brushed you off, so you thought Merill would be your soul mate but it turns out you never had anything in common with her that's why you realized your mistake and chased after Isabella again.
It's kinda the same way i did Origins.. had something going on with both Leliana and Morrigan but wasnt sure with Morrigan coz she's all "evil-like" so i chose Leliana.. but at the end, did the witch hunt coz i would love to think that after a while the warden realized he loves Morrigan more than Leliana. =D

Merril is my blood mage play thing att home (she moved in with me), and Isabella is my sidelover and even she and the rest of the party comments on it.
Think Varric even said to Merril that Isabella is kinda of a desert that every man needs now and then
(or something like that... fully agree with him )

I planned to romance Isabela my first playthrough but flirted with Merrill once. Then she popped up at my house with those sad little puppy-dog eyes.
"I don't deserve you..." "Some of use might worship you from afar..."
I don't have a heart of iron, you know. And I certainly couldn't dump her after we had sex.
Awww.... Maria san...
So kind! So heartfelt!

Lulz ya you can do that. Thats... actually what i did in my first playthrough. Isabella awaits. But you have to cancel the relationship with Merril afterwords otherwise it wont work.mikx82 wrote...
not to some douchey but is there a way to have casual sex with Isabella, then romance merill, have sex with her but dump her as well then go back to Isabella?

Dammit DA2 bug why did you do this to me? All my effort of making her happy after I decided she is the one for me gone?!
(On a side note did you encounter that she was crying that the keeper is dead BEFORE you tackled the New Path quest, just curious since it happened to me hours before that quest appeared)

I gave her the knife thing she wanted, and at one point she ****ed me out for not giving it to her.
I was all "WHAAAAAT!?"
...ended up with Anders. XD Which is funny because it happened only because the dialog wheel snapped back to the Romance option instead of the "Not interested" one. Ah well. Anders and my Mage lived happily ever after~~
