I had trouble finding a suitable candidate for my fem Hawke. Anders the terrorist. Fenris the brooding anti mage freak. Sebastian the Chantry zealot. So she chose Merrill. If only because she was totally lost and needed to get out of lowtown.

I'm not against homosexuality or bisexuality, it's just that as far as I'm concerned Anders was straight in Awakening despite the retcon. He could be bisexual for my 'canon' sure.

First, Leliana got herself a much more enjoyable DLC than Morrigan did (and I actually liked Witch Hunt). Second, the Witch Hunt DLC had nothing to do with the warden being a male human warrior who romanced Morrigan. It had to do with Morrigan, full stop.

Anders might seem more storyline influential, but it's Isabella who got herself a cutscene flashback. I'm not telling you these are "canonical canon" choices, but looking at how Bioware runs it's franchises it's hard not to notice certain hints, unless of course someone doesn't want to.

That's exactly what you've been telling us, actually And it's not how BioWare runs their franchises. It's how Microsoft and EA have marketed their franchises.

I dread the moment Mass Effect hits the big screens with what will essential be a canon version of the story. People will go ape**** over it...

Yes, they will. I will not be one of them, however, because I'm reasonable and understand that the film will be "just another canon," the same way as your game is different from mine.
