I'm not sure where exactly to post this, and I can move it if it's better someplace else. This is an idea I've been toying with that I think would be a fun little campaign romp. It'd be fairly disconnected from the main Dragon Age 2 story, and star one of my favorite Dragon Age characters, Ser Pounce a lot.

I started thinking about it after hearing some inter party chat with Anders about his feline friend that he had to leave behind, and I love the tales of pets going through extreme measures to return to their owners like in the movie Homeward Bound.  So as a cat, he'd be master of the various feline arts of persuasion and annoyance with a movepool that consists of kitty skills pounce, swipe/growl, yowl, meow, purr and pee, and you have to utilize those skills to manipulate the people around you to open up the next area.  Each area could be a stationary place like a town or building, or they could be some form of transport like a ship or cart.

It would start wherever Ser Pounce a lot was left, fed up with just missing his companion and deciding to just go out and look for him. One level could be a port city, and manipulating the enviornment and its people with acts of cuteness or pestering would open up a crate that's to be loaded onto a ship. The next area would be the inside of the ship, and the objective would be to survive the trip, so you'd need to pounce on the rats in the ship's hold while avoiding being seen by the sailors on the ship. Ser Pounce a lot could even brave the deep roads, running between the legs of  wandering activated golems and yowling to attract the darkspawn in the area to fight said golems and slipping past the bustle to safety and a dwarven expedition perfect for a stoaway trip to the surace.

It would come to a conclusion in Darktown. Our hero would be exhausted from the trip and still have to avoid the refugees and homeless for fear of being someones dinner. After making his way across Darktown, Ser Pounce a lot comes across a saucer of milk left out in the open, and then a touching cutscene of Anders walking out of  his clinic and spotting the cat. First he smiles, happy to finally find a cat that has not been eaten by the refugees, then his face dons a quizzical look that breaks out in weepy tearful beaming when he realizes the reason the cat looks familiar is because it is familiar. It's his cat, his Ser Pounce a lot found him and returned to his side.

I'm just throwing the idea out there. I know I am a bit biased... I love Anders and Ser Pounce a lot. I do think it would be a fresh idea for a download campaign. See the world of Thedas through the eyes of a cat, complete with his own Codex for everything.

I know it's pretty much a pipe dream, but I'm still wishing on my star for Anders to be reunited with his best friend and get a little light back in life.:D

I am fond of the idea because, A. my wife is a sucker for cute, B. I am a sucker for this kind of thing, and C. it would be, like you said, an interesting view at Thedas. We would get a look at the plight of the refugees from the angle of the ship voyage. We could see all sorts of little secrets and details to plots from a fly on the wall kind of view.

A cat's size and stealth would allow for all sorts of story addition through exploration and give those fussing over the lack of Op Out of Fight options more chances to not fight. *awesome face*

Although this is rather unlikely to happen, I support this idea... I feel sad that Anders had to give the cat away :(

And then my Mabari hound runs up and snaps the cat's head off.

"Anders" Why did you do that?!
"Hawke" Oh, I was being impulsive like what you did with the Chantry. Sounded good at the time.
"Dog" BARK!

Considering we spent time as a rat in Origins, I see no reason why we couldn't be a cat for DLC.  It would be interesting.  Anders is still leaving milk out.  It would be a cool cutscene to return to the clinic and have Ser Pounce a lot  there lapping up the milk.

I stopped playing awakening after the game stole my main hero's equipment and bugged out in one of the dungeon quests lol, So I never got to see what became of sir pounce-a-lot!! And when I heard Anders say that he was made to get rid of him in DA2 .... Well, It brought a tear to my eye.

Ser-Pounce-alot = emergency food supply in the Deep Road, Wardens are nothing if practical.

I must say I don't understand the 'being made to get rid of Ser Pounce a lot' bit--after all, your Warden-Commander character is the one who gives him to Anders in the first place. Is this an indication that you are no longer in charge at Vigil's Keep?

I think a more likely conclusion would be that just as the cat finds Anders, he sees him chatting up a male Hawke for no good reason, Ser Pounce-a-lot  heartbroken looks to the nearest refugee for comfort. The refugee then eats him.

THE END.

My warden and Leliana adopted him as their lesbian love-child. She took it with her to Amgarrak and to chase after Morrigan. Ser Pounce-a-Lot has a wonderful and loving home away from that backstabbing abomination.

An idea that keeps bouncing around in my head is to make a campaign for DA:O with the Mabari as the protagonist, doing all the behind-the-scenes things that make the Hero of Ferelden's victories possible. After all, Dog *is* a Grey Warden. He drank the blood, survived, and was driven towards fighting Archie. The dialogue would be easy: subtitles translating the barks and Charlie Brown trombones for the bipeds' voices.

Now that I have a computer capable of such a project, it's slowly becoming something I'd like to do; not much real thought's gone into it, though. A pre-Awakening Ser Pounce-a-Lot would make a wonderful party member; I suppose s/he'd be a healer. I've had trouble thinking of other party members that are within my artistic abilities, though.

No, the best ending would be for Ser Pounce A Lot to arrive in the gallows (holding a cheeseburger, of course) just as Anders is about to do his worst, and the Vengeance demon is banished by the unstoppable power of lolcatness. Meredith and Orsino fight over the cheeseburger, so Ser Pounce A Lot claws them both and is made Viscount. Kirkwall enjoys an unprecedented epoch of peace and prosperity under the reign of their new feline overlord, and the Qunari (as demonstrated by Sten) are powerless before him. Flemeth's head explodes when she realises she shouldn't have shapeshifted into a dragon, but rather, a kitten making a funny face, and Hawke and companions retire to the Hanged Man for a round of drinks and a game of diamondback.

The end.

Oh yes... Ser Pounce a Lot must have cheeseburgers.

I do wonder if Ser Pounce A lot would have changed a lot of Anders' perspective. Having him back might have chilled him out a bit. Pets are good for stress, after all.

Yeah, and any mage killed Ser Pounce a Lot could resurrect him with sheer cat awesomeness.  The whole Chantry downfall is the fault of the Grey Wardens! ;)
