I'm trying to use the dev console on my game, but for some reason it's not opening. I added the -enabledeveloperconsole to the end of the dragonage2 binship shortcut and edited the keybinding ini to make the ~ key open the dev console. When I'm playing the game I push the ~ key but nothing happens the other keys work like they normally would moving my character around or opening menus. From what I understand it's suppose to be like DA:O and I know the dev console works in my DA:O game but it's not working in DA 2. Any help would be great, I know there is another method thats for more advanced users but runs the risk of effecting the games stability so would rather avoid using that if possible.

The console is Invisible in DA2. I know for sure its working, i have used it myself.
It is not like in DA:O where you'd get some indication by some screwed up text (or if you copied the font into DA:o Folder) actually saw what you were typing.
@Kotleta, Dragonagewiki does have a, afaik, complete list for console commands for DA:O. Might want to look there.. or better yet, why don't you try it?

To check that the invisible console is active, you can try keys such as the WASD movement keys. If the console is active, the view won't change as the keystrokes will be going into the console (you won't see any text BTW). Just don't forget to delete the "test characters"!

I'm having the exact same problem as the OP. The console just doesn't seem to be active, though it should be.

I don't know how you are enabling the console but, when I wanted to use it to "fix" Merrill's Act 3 quest, I found the instructions on this page to be very clear and correct....

I had the same problem post patch 1.02. Got the console working again by running my shortcut as administrator in Win7 64. Hope this helps.

Well, I tried 6 times to get the console to work. Never did. I had to decide I didn't care. Hopefully DA3 will come with it already enabled. Other games do! Good luck!

As demonstrated by many of the players who have posted in other threads about this issue, the dev console in DA2 works correctly on all flavours of machine and O/S (WinXP, Vista, Win7, 32- and 64-bit, and Mac) and all (legitimate) forms of install (retail disc, Steam, Origin, etc.)
If you can't get it working then it may be an issue associated with your specifc keyboard's layout, or something else you have installed, but it's at your end. Whether you want to keep trying to get it running is, of course, up to you.

I found a suitable alternative however, modified an old staff I had and managed to make my own copy of the weapon I was chasing. Took me about 5-10 mins to work it all out but it turned out quite well in the end. Thanks guys
