Is there going to be an Amiga 500 port?

It goes both ways. Consoles essentially are computers, the two genres are getting closer and closer together (several consoles have keyboards and mice you can buy for them). I would be willing to wager that within 20 years xbox/pc3/wii will simply be a brand of PC, or something along those lines.

(or everyone will run everything off a docking station from their phone!)

Oh ye gods, PC gaming is dead again...for the umpteenth time. Man, this gets tiresome, PC gaming was dead when Kotor came out, it was dead when Oblivion came out, it was dead when ME 1 came out...and it keeps resurrecting itself somehow...amazing.

Dude, get a grip, please, just because DA 2 does things differently than DAO does not signify the death of PC gaming not in the least because DAO was released the same way as DA 2, on multiple platforms.

You're right, PC gaming in the RPG genre at least is long since dead. DA:O did a pretty nice job of casting a ressurection spell on it. DA2 did a pretty nice job of stamping on the hearts of those who enjoyed DA:O for that fact.

DA2 is an enjoyable action RPG, but the days that bring all of that nostalgia of the classics on us are long since over it seems. Shame really =/

I really do think they plan on making a Wii port. It's the only way a lot of the design decisions make sense. Shave off 1 more gig by making the rest of the textures match the Elves around town and it's a done deal.

SWING WIIMOTE = AWESOME

I played the demo for PC and 360 and I'm pretty sure I like the PC version a little better. Sure the interface is very console friendly and even the camera has gone console, heck if I could remember a few other things I noticed while playing I'd probably list them here, but my personal opinion is it's a better game on the PC.

If PC gaming is dying it's probably more due to publishers jumping on the cash wagon than developers hating on the PC. Shockingly the cost of developing games have gone up and as computers advance consoles stay more or less where they were at day 1 of their release. Stable platform like that is pretty good to develop games for, no? Imagine if Microsoft launched a new Xbox tomorrow, game developers might just headdesk, Your ME 3 on the 360? So yesterday. But PC tech changes every 6 months or so, keeping up costs more, or so I should imagine. I don't know much about big companies but if they were looking out for the little man I don't think they'd be a big company.

I'd just like to point out that Icewind Dale was crap. Seriously, comparing it to Dragon Age 2 is a joke. I got so bored with the linear plot and repetetive dungeon bashing that I gave up in disgust, and my standards were a lot lower back then. A little bit of perspecive, please.

I have to say the UI seemed in my eyes tobe dumbed down for the console players, almost ruining the game for PC players, STOP DOING THIS BIOWARE, you DID it with Mass Effect 2 (I want a Hotkey so I can select the gun I wanted to use instead of having to scroll through my guns)

Emphasis mine. Not to be cruel to DA 2, but 50% the source of your disgust is arguably present in DA 2.

Yeah, as someone upthread mentioned, RPG PC gaming died when Bethesda took over the Fallout franchise and turned a great RPG title into a shooting gallery. We're way past that now.

Maybe if PC gamers actually started buying their games then publishers would start giving a damn about what they think.

DAO UI on the console was already minimalist compared to the PC version. Personally, I liked the console menus more, though the PC interface was quite nice.

Elaborating on that point further, certainly not all PC gamers are pirates and I understand PC gamers being upset that there has been a lack of emphasis on their preferred platform.  However, do not take it out on console gamers for being better customers.

I.... could have sworn I bought this game for the PC and played it on that! Maybe I ought to go back and check! If it's turned into a 360 or PS3 game, I know that I'll have finally cracked the alchemy for games. Maybe then I'll get Fable 2 for PC, no?

PC gaming was never intended to remain the same forever. A game which is shared between consoles and PCs will always end up leaning towards console style of gaming, simply because it is less work for developers and larger proportion of satisfied customers. This doesn't just affect RPGs, Battlefield series took fire from the release of Bad Company 2 on both consoles and PCs, being dumbed down and lacking action inspired by previous PC only games.

In case of RPGs I actually prefer the playstyle to be like DA2 rather than DAO or Bauldar's Gate, probably because I've logged thousands of hours into MMOs. Majority voice rules in gaming business and unfortunately that will not change. You either have to go along with it or move on to something else.

This is exactly the sort of thing that leads to flame wars, friend.

One could easily say the used game market is rather detrimental to games in general since developers and publishers don't get a sniff of the sale after the first. Isn't that why EA contrived this online pass thing? I certainly am not taking it out on console gamers, since I have a 360 and happily play the few games I have for it(mostly 360 exclusive though).

RPGs as you know it have drastically changed over the years. Either get with the times or wallow in the past.

Not all console games are just eye candy and have the AWESOME factor in it.
You have to remember a small game that came out a few years ago called Demon's Souls.
( Ps3 mostly) Some console gamers still like complexity in their games in one way or another and Demon's Souls is one example of it.

They haven't change as much as tried to merge with other genres.

And your "like the changes or deal with it" attidude doesnt help.

It does help. It brings you closer to acceptance because really what the few say wont matter compared to what the many want.

What many want is what made ME2 and DA2.

Platform wars are not tolerated on these forums. Let's make this very clear before we proceed with this thread.

It's both possible and feasible to enjoy games on multiple platforms. I'm primarily a PC Gamer (my Steam collection alone should reinforce that) but I'm able to enjoy games on the 360, PS3 and Wii just as easily.

Don't hesitate to express a preference, but don't pretend that it makes you any more of a valid judge of what's good and what isn't than someone with a different preference.

The who is valid to judge?

BioWare - Fascist Much?

Someone needs to look up the definition of "fascist." ....
