I was hoping for a rivalry romance with Isabela in my next playthrough, but the official guide says you "have to be on a friendship path to complete the romance with Isabela, though this isn't necessary for the first steps."
Does that mean the guidebook is wrong (I hope)?
You shouldn't have to be on the friendship path with her to complete the romance. I'm fairly certain I wrote rivalry lines for her romance. That bit of misinformation probably just slipped through. Oops.

Sheryl can you explain her take on justice? I know she tends to approve of killing people who deserve it but does she have a different reason for it? I know with Anders she argues about the idea of Justice, that's why I am wondering.
You've probably already noticed that Isabela's an impulsive sort of creature. Generally she's not thinking too far ahead when she encourages Hawke to do away with people who deserve it (like Kelder). She's certainly doesn't maintain a very consistent moral outlook. She does what feels right at the moment. In Kelder's case, she's thinking, "This man is a broken, cowardly abuser. And he wants to die. Do it already." If Kelder had four Tal-Vashoth bodyguards standing by, she might feel differently.
And sometimes Isabela argues with Anders (and other followers) just to provoke them.
