Hello ALL,
Quick questions:
1. Inventory Mode: I have noticed there are 2 types of icon colors in the inventory; green and gray. Do these mean anything special? I know in DAO 1, when you had matching equipment, you received extra points, but I have yet to see anything like that in this game.
2. The gold stars: These are suppose to represent the better equipment, but I don't get it. Sometimes the piece of equipment is weak and worthless and yet has a couple of gold stars. While another piece of equipment appears to be rather decent and no stars.
3. I was in a special area "The Black Emp" and noticed the gear was selling for a lot of coin, but the buy back was not even a fraction of the cost. Weird...
So, whats up? Thanks for the help!

1. There are actually a bunch of colors. There's green, silver, gold, purple, maybe some others. Yes, there are item sets in DAII.
2. Apparently, the game thinks that what appears to you to be rather worthless is actually quite decent. I don't know exactly how the star ratings are calculated. I imagine there's some sort of stat budget that determines it based on your level.
3. The Black Emporium sells super-duper-awesome gear. What do you mean the buyback's not even a fraction of the cost? Usually, anything you sell to a vendor will sell for much less than you'd buy it for. That's not weird at all.

The stars also seem to be based on when you get the item. I had two items, one with slightly better stats than the other (like +14 attack vs +12 attack), but the better one had a lower star rating, presumably because I got the better one a while ago, whereas the worse one was new.

I think that only a character that can actually use an item can see the stars. If you're a mage looking at a longsword, you'll probably need to switch to someone who can wield it (like Avelline) to see the stars.

OK, so what do they mean?

For item quality, for any specific level, it goes copper -> silver -> gold. Copper is the regular item. Silver it the item with enhancement. Gold is enhancement and rune slots.
Green items seem to be unlocks. Purple seem to be highest quality and level.

It wasnt very accurate to be sure, the star system wasnt to far off for armor, but the accessory star ratings did nothing. Get a 2 sta/mana regen ring at level 5 that is 4 stars, at level 10 it has no stars and a new ring that is identical in every way, stats, sell price, color, ets drops and its 3 or 4 stars.

My impression of the stars was this
You are level X and you have two weapons on is level X and two stars and the other is level Y and three stars. Weapon X is the better weapon. The stars are rating the weapons based on player level. When you were level Y that weapon would have been better than a Y two star.
Does that make sense?

I think he is referring to the low buyback as the devs made all DLC items (aside from the Emporium, I believe) worth 1 copper.

I think it takes in into account the points you use in your stats so if you put a lot of points into fortitude the stars will go down on a strength ring

Anyone else notice that the same item will change the number of stars for different characters? I could understand that, as it may be more useful for one character than another.
But what about having 2 rings, both reading +3% physical damage, one with no stars, and one with 3?

the stars are relative to your level, player stats and the item in questions quality compared to other items that can be used within the same level range that you are in. In other words, if you pick up an item at character level one that is 5 stars by the time you reach level 5 that item may or may not be 5 stars depending on how good the item is, the star level will decrease as your player grows. Most of the dlc equipment is 5 stars and will stay that way because it increases relative to the players level.
