WoW did so well because they had no real competition when it came out, EQ was dying out after years and years and a failed expansion. Their only other competetors were what? Anarchy online and freakin' DAOC. The only thing good thing about WoW is the social networking you can do. Other than that it's no different than any other mmorpg. You really think coke tastes way better than generic local store brand?

Also, on the asperger's syndrome thing, it's not a state of retardation at all. You'd just have problems grasping social conventions and normal behaviors. Disagreeing with someone because you think they're stupid and saying they have aspergers is like saying you're going parachuting in the antarctic ocean.

My favorite part of the game is killing things by beating them to death with my shield. I downgraded my armor just to get more stamina to keep doing that.

If anything, warriors need more ways to hit things with their shield.

I wholeheartedly agree!

Psh, Warriors a feeble mofos who hide behind shields and heavy plate armor. Rogues are the ones who actually do the damage for the party, everyone knows that.

OK Bioware dudes, you need to take a look at Wars. They're missing a load of things they should have.

They have no "charge" ability. Wars should be able to dash at the enemy and stun them and gain stamina to use in the fight.

You gave whirlwind to rogues?!?! WTF

Why don't they have shouts that buff the party's attack power?

Get on it guys, oh and you should call the game World of Warcraft.

This isn't WoW warriors, though sometimes it looks like it.

BOTH WARRIORS AND ROGUES CAN DUAL WEILD DURKA DUR.

Champion specialization provides shouts.

Edit: And my current first party play through is three warriors and a rogue. My main is a dual wielding warrior / berserker... and he does the most dmg by FAR.

Sarcasm fails.

You know, from reading these forums, you'd never guess that WoW is the most popular RPG in history. I wander what Blizzard got right with that game. It can't be the story.

i hope i'm not the only one seeing tremendous irony/contradiction here.

Maybe it's the mechanics. Maybe it's the fact that melee classes are actually fun and powerful. Maybe it's the fact that the developers strive for class balance. Nah! Must just be a coincidence.

Oddly enough the melee characters in this game are even more powerful and effective, if built and played correctly...

I'd like a charge like ability, similar to what dog has. A "parry" mode for defense and an armour branch. i.e. reduce fatigue penalties, allow barge style tactics with massive armours (an elbow full of full plate must hurt) and so on.

A warrior in Fullplate seems to take a huge disadvantage to stamina yet they are meant to be armoured fighters, a counter to a rogues light fighting status i.e. Rogues get Evasion, maybe warriors need "Glancing Blows" to show they maximise the armours natural ability to turn blows aside.

they definily need to make 2h better. Tried many times to get going with 2h but it is so ****** poor and weapons at disposal we find are crappy. Ppl can say all hey want "i hit slow but i hit for 100 dmg!". I hit with rogue for 120 dmg ever half second with few poisons and backsabs increased by 50% in dmg exploit weakness and lethality. Probably if i would put more in cunning i would get even more dmg

2h sucks:P

That i do agree with, i can do 3 tmes the amount of damage on a rogue than a 2 hander can do in one swing. I think the logic was that th erogues will be hitting more but drawing more aggro but with all of the abilities to stun mobs across all characters, and the fact that poultices dont have a huge cooldown, its a moot point.

Snide WoW references aside, 2h and shield warriors are pretty lacking. And the game did prodigiously rip off WoW's UI and mechanics. Aggro, mini-map in top right corner, quick bar, etc etc.

Quick bar? LMAOl. a qucik bar is a quick bar, they have been around since baldurs gate, please. The UI is similar to many games not just wow, why try and make a UI that is totally different when the one they use works great? mechanics are nothing like wow lay off the drugs.

Yeah Warriors need some stamina sustaining abilities like, stamina potions.  the mushroom doesnt give that much stam recovery as is.  Also, this isnt wow.  so a charge for warriors would bring back unpleasant memories of it

I want my warrior to dual wield shields and bash things into a bloody pulp. Also some sort of shield tabogon sled race included with the new DLC.

Never said WoW invented the quick bar, but the look/execution feels very WoW-like. I've played BG when it first came out, played Ultima Online, I know the quickbar has been done before. But it just feels more Wow-like. And there were plenty of things they took from WoW that weren't in previous games, like aggro, taunting and tanking (which are stupid).

Swinging a sword would feel WoW-like if DAO actually had parry animations, or if I didn't have a 30% miss rate against armored targets.

I'd consider using a 2hander with a sword "doing it wrong", a maul or an axe is almost always better because of the armour penetration. Most skills in the 2handed tree are about doing big, hefty blows which you obviously only need vs bosses. Armour penetration is far more important vs a boss in this regard than raw damage.  Combined with indominatable and stuff like Sunder Armour or Sunder Arms and you'll find that 2handed warriors are all about kicking a dragon's ass.

Regardless: they don't need to touch balance at all really. They could, but they don't have to. The game is perfectly playable with pretty much everything no problem. You may struggle on higher difficulties with some stuff but it's mostly fine.
