Description: A couple years I bought this game from Direct2Drive, but I put it down shortly after I picked it up because I wasn't really into the RPG scene back then. Well, recently I decided to pick it back up one boring afternoon.
No problems for a long time. Midway through the first chapter/act/whatever, I decided it would be a good idea to update. So I did. Went through everything just fine until I reached what I suspect to be the end of the first chapter: leaving West Harbor. Things, however, didn't go as planned from that point on. When I try to use the world map to leave to the inn, the game stops for a second, then my character takes a step back. The left click of the mouse stops working and I can't rotate the camera, my character runs in place when I stop moving and I can't interact with world objects or NPCs at all. And, I can't access the world map again. I end up having to hard crash the game to get out of it.
I'd found a thread using google search(http://www.ataricomm...p/t-580569.html)in which the last comment gives a vague idea of what goes wrong; I've spent an hour trying to get this to work, however, and no dice.
I've also found a thread here which prompted me to try making a new character and doing it all over again(http://forums.atari....read.php?t=8852), but still it won't work.
Does anyone have any clue what I can do about this?
There doesn't seem to be a search function on this forum, and I'd rather not have to flip through hundreds of pages; either that or I'm a blind fool.
Can't leave west harbor.

What do you mean by "home drive"?
I wonder if you aren't running out of disk space and the game can't open up the new module to start the next area (while it's also trying to close down the existing module). 296 mb out of 7.81 gb is a really small amount of free disk space... I wouldn't be surprised if you're experiencing other issues with your computer in general.
If, of course, I understand what you mean by "home drive".

"Home drive" meaning the drive my current OS is installed on.
It's a long story, suffice it to say it's possible you're right. I'm not so sure, though. If it were really pressing my home drive's space, wouldn't my home drive's space be decreasing; possibly to the point of nigh-zero?

Hmmm... partitioning like that is not really a good idea.
The boot drive (where Windows is installed) also contains your account profile, which is used by NWN 2. It doesn't matter where the game is installed, but the game unpacks the modules in your profile sub directories for game play. At 7.81 GB, you do not have enough free disk space to play the game.
The game itself needs about 10 GB of free disk, I usually recommend 15 to 20 GB depending on if you have just the original game, or the expansions and the Adventure Pack.
