I'm no wizurd, but I bet the people that ARE wizards probably need to know more about your party make-up in order to give you any useful advice.

Now I will admit that I played on Normal, but some of what I tell you should apply.

Runes for armor to protect from fire, easily available from rune bench in your house and Sandal happy to apply, greatly lowers the damage taken.

Varric(with managment), and Sebastion make good people to have because you can spread them out to do ranged damage, with Varric really good at hurting the beast. I used a mage character doing the standard destroy the small guys with tempest and ice and watching over my ranged dudes to keep them alive to let them mostly kill the big momma. Fenris was my melee guy, taking aggro, he too had fire defense and heavy into skills for damage reduction. Elf root potions were good to have along, kept popping potions as needed and range killing the beast.

The first time I met her, she wiped the floor with me, her fire breath destroyed my guys, so remember the defense against fire.

So long as you take Fire Warding runes on your armor you should be fine. The only thing you should worry about at that point is the waves of dragonlings and the dragon (or 2 in the last wave) that spawn when the High Dragon flies off. Control the big guys and AOE the little, you know the drill at this point in the game :).

Fighting in small a corner will funnel dragonlings and keep the dragon @ bay. I did all but the boss solo with mage on normal.

I had trouble with the dragon shooting fireballs from her remote position. I'll slot for fire resistance, but he was just blowing my squishies to bits, making it very hard to control and destroy the dragonlings and dragons.

Any tips on those fireballs besides fire resist? Running full tear-ass across the stage and I still got plinked to death, so I don't think manoeuvring helps.

I loaded an earlier save and decided to come back after another ding and gear upgrade cycle.

So far I haven't used any potions beyond basic health and stamina/mana pots. I'll give those a shot if problems persist.
