laughingelfman
1.The Neverwinter Nights series
2. The Baldurs Gate series
3. Morrowind
4. Planescape: Torment "IM UPDATING MY JOURNAL ALL DAY EVERY DAY"
5; Dragon Age Origins
Dragon Age Origins would actually be 6 or 7 but since its the closest ill ever get to a Wheel of Time RPG ill bump it up.
Is DA2 in your top 5 favorite rpgs?

DA2 is definitely in my top something list, but not my top 5.
-KotOR
-FF 4, 6, and 9
-DA:O
-Morrowind
-ME
-NWN
-Chrono Trigger
-Deus Ex
-Suikoden I-III
Those games are all possible candidates for my Top 5. I enjoyed DA2, just not as much as the rest of the games mentioned.

It's definitely in my top 5 Bioware RPGs, I missed the Baldur's Gate time and have tried to play it a couple years ago, but couldn't really get into it or the sequel. I am sure though had I got to play it when it came out, I wouldn't have had a problem. I guess it's the fact you can't really see the characters and what's going on.
If anything; DA2 is moreso a spiritual successor because of the exploding bodies.
Oh, right, top 5:
My top 5 is already taken, but it is in the top 10.
Grandia
Grandia 2
Final Fantasy IX
Legend of Dragoon
Dragon Quest VIII
And they aren't in a specific order.
Grandia II had Cam Clarke as the main character.
I just realized: Dragon Age II and Mass Effect 2 are the only two Bioware games since Baldur's Gate that DOESN'T have Cam Clarke in it. *gasp*

I think that would be my answer. It may not be among the top 5, but it's definitely among my favorites. And it may be more replayable than several of the games I might rank ahead of it now, which would move it up the list if that's the case.

Here's a pretty comprehensive list. It's every RPG I've ever played that I can remember, excluding those that are more action oriented. I haven't included games that are more action-based. Having a skill point system an RPG does not make -- so I kind of want to remove the Bethesda games from this list.
1) Fallout
2) Planescape: Torment
3) Arcanum
4) Dragon Age: Origins
5) Dragon Age 2 (so, yes)
6) KOTOR2
7) BG (There was some horrible game breaking bug that I couldn't get past on my main playthrough).
8) Fallout 2
9) BG2 (only here because I never beat it! But I did enjoy what I played.)
10) Jade Empire
11) Neverwinter Nights 2
12) Vampire: The Masquerade: Bloodlines
13) Mass Effect
14) KOTOR1 (Some mechanics needed tightening up imho, and I didn't like that I could predict the plot before I left Taris. As a game it was good, as a story it jaded me.)
15) Oblivion
16) Fallout 3 (The theme of the Fallout games before this was not "Nukes Are Cool!" it was quite the opposite. This is my ex's favorite game because hey, nukes are cool!!!!)
17) Morrowind
18) Neverwinter Nights (Single player campaign was about what, exactly? One of my friends says "Lizard people making the city warm".)
I like deep stories and suffering protagonists. You'll all notice I haven't historically liked Bioware games too much. I'm entitled to my opinion, though.
I don't like characters that are Godchildren or Sith Lords before I've taken control of them. I want to be Average Jane who becomes neat through having situations where excellence is required forced upon him. DAO felt like the first step towards this.

BG
Elder Scrolls Oblivion
DA:O
Ultima Online
Icewind Dale
DA2 is not even close. If it had been finished, polished and big, instead of rushed, then yes.

2. Final Fantasy VII
3. Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth
4. Lunar: Silver Star (PSX)

DA2 doesn't even come into my top 10 let alone top 5. Sad but true.
It had the potential but failed.

3. Fallout 1/2
4. Icewind Dale series
5. Jade Empire
6. KOTOR 1/2
7. ME 1/2
8. Final Fantasy VII
9. Dragon Age : Origins
10. Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne / Shin Megami Tensei : Digital Devil Saga

With that logic than all video games are Role Playing Games. Legacy of Kain is an Action Adventure game like Devil May Cry or Enslaved. The Xand wrote...

Legacy of Kain isn't an rpg...
Funny that, since it's a game where you're role playing a character.
1. Mass Effect
2. Xenogear
3. Xenosage 1 & 3 (2 does not exist)
4. Fallout
5. Huh, I guess you do have a place here Dragon Age. Don't get to complacent though, I haven't played Witcher, Divinity, Gothic, etc. yet. Oh and Skyrim isn't that far off. Which none of those might even be on this list of Deus Ex turns out to be really good. SO STEP IT UP DRAGON AGE OR YOU WILL BE REPLACED! If you can beat Fallout in ranking maybe, just maybe you'll get to stay.
