Also, if it is or isn't, why not? What is your top 5 favorite RPG's?

It's not in my top 5 favorites because it's not even close to good enough. My favorites:

-Arcanum. Most likely the best story ever told in a game.
-Fallout: New Vegas
-I haven't finished it yet, but Fallout 2 has already cemented a spot on the list for me.
-Dragon Age: Origins
-Oblivion, as much as I'm ashamed to put it here. The story was garbage, but at the time it was the sandbox fantasy world to get lost in ever created, if -only- for the visuals.
-The Witcher

Arcanum is a great game, I almost forgot about that.

Probably because I never finished it.

How can anyone like The Witcher with all those bugs and plot-hole crap story line?

Dude, Patch 1.2 fixed almost all of them and then patch 1.4(Enhanced edition)and the Directors cut finished off the rest.

If there are bugs left in the game it's minor. The Witcher was praised for it's great story setting.

Nope, had directors cut, crashed every 30 mins, top-line computer.

Honestly think I'd make a mistake like that?

And no, just like DA-2, they were REVIEWED well, the game is crap... I have seriously not played a more menancing piece of game that literally makes you drag yourself through the game because of its horrid gameplay, design, story, and everything else...

It also had horrible level design and repetitive qualities... it was utter crap, I keep it on my computer only for the fact that I like to have EVERY game installed.

My list is a bit crowded as it is, but I do really like DA2. Let me see if I can fit it in there...

1. Baldur's Gate II
2. Mass Effect 2
3. Final Fantasy: Tactics
4. Disgaea 2

Hm, well, when I finish DA2, there could be room for it in the #5 spot, but only if I maintain a "only one game per franchise" rule. Otherwise ME1 and BG1 would be taking up slots. I don't know which I like better between DA:O and DA2, at least not yet.

Eh, I never had it crash once. The only complaint I have is that the American version has censored sex cards. Lame. >_>

Yep. In no particular order

Planescape: Torment
Baldur's Gate 2
Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines
Dragon Age 2
Fallout 2, but Fallout New Vegas very close. If I could choose another, it would be Arcanum

I could care less about the sex cards it constantly throws me that literally do nothing but detract more from the game from the randomness of my having sex with everything that walks or is green.

In any case, I honestly have never had such hatred for a game, but DA:2 and The Witcher pretty much rank up next to each other as solid flaws, but DA:2 was actually moderately fun until it got repetitive with enemy life bars.

After seeing so much hate against the game such question sounds a bit ironic to me.

To be fair, the Witcher wasn't done by a huge company like Bioware, so the standards at which I judge it are considerably lower. (Though I still think it's a very good game)

Lost Odyssey
Dragon Age: Origins
Mass Effect
Knights of The Old Republic
Tales of Vesperia

I don't want to trudge back into my collection of games, so this is my more modern TOP Rpg's game.

Anything rated GOTY gets massive judgment, else it should not be the GOTY... Worst GOTY I've ever had.

this

it was made by a small polish dev team, they made a very good game considering the cirumstances, and even ignoring those I still rank DA2 lower than Witcher

CRPGs? Because just about any tabletop RPG beats just about any CRPG :P

Anyway, yes (I think).

Hmmm... top five...

BGII - SoA
DAII
TESIII: Morrowind
Planescape: Torment
(maybe?) KotOR2

Not necessarily in that order.

I simply cannot agree.. The Witcher is one of the worst pieces of trash I've ever played in my life, how it had good ratings is beyond me, but I trudged through 30 minute crashes throughout the entire game, and finished everything, and I never enjoyed a single moment of it... UTTER TRASH.

A newbie RPGer of this past decade:
1. Knights of the Old Republic. (I will never forget the big twist. NEVER)
2. Mass Effect 2 (The only game I've replayed more than twice)
3. Dragon Age: Origins (My first foray in the Baldur Gate-styled gameplay. Loved the characters in the story.)
4. Fallout: New Vegas (I loved the faction reputation system and and enjoyed the 'rise to power' theme better than Fallout 3's Find-your-daddy and make clean water storyline.)
5. The Witcher (Beginning was hands down the worst parts of the game. I'm surprised it's in the top 5 but I decided the ending totally made it up for me.)

I'm expecting Witcher 2 and DE:HR to kick things up soon.

Trust me when I say that the game picks up by Act 2.

Not a great selling point but it's the quality is there. Also.. I never had to game crash on me. So to each his own I guess.

I'm going to guess Fallout New Vegas had you frothing at the mouth in rage at launch, huh? XD

I've never played the Witcher, so I can't judge it, but I do agree that "Well, it was an indie developer" is a bull**** excuse. Whenever you're composing a list like this, your standards have to be the same across the board. KotOR2 barely made my list because of it's buggy, too-easy, incompleete messiness, but I loved the story and characters so much that I never once cared when I was playing.

Fallout 3 was made by Bethesda, so bugs aside it was slow, had a moderately average story compared to what I've made or am used to, and was average, it was a game to play, and I played it twice through completely.

Fallout New Vegas was filled with bugs and slow-starting... somewhat open world and somewhat boring for the most parts... had a lot of load screens as well. On the console it was bad, as for the PC it was average.

It wasn't GOTY, neither of them... surprised they got that.

---

I'm not the finicky gamer or anything, I haven't played tons of old-style RPG's even, but I expect quality from what I buy or play, and I've gotten very little "quality" outside of BioWare games and a few other games... hell I think Nexus: The Jupiter Incident was better, as at least that game was more fun than the Witcher.

In any case, GOTY should be reserverd for things that NEED to be played, like Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Lost Odyssey, and a few others... but not this crap.

And no, I don't care much for Final Fantasy either so I'm not just a JRPG lover or something.
