It is also a fact Duncan said the mages have made the preparations. Unless you believe Duncan Lied.

This is just when you got back with the blood. So there were steps to be taken before that involves magic.

Once you came back with the blood Duncan mixed the blood with whatever the mages did and that forms the catalyst for the Joining Ritual.

Conversations with Alistair state the there is preparations for the Grey Wardens Joining and something is done to the blood. That probably negates any hope there.

However, dogs and Humans do not always react the same to something. (Chocolate is VERY bad for dogs, but only VERY bad for waistlines in people.)

The Calling goes into a little more detail about this. Apparently, surviving the darkspawn taint is pretty much The Joining ritual for dogs.

pshh then i should be able to let ProfWiggle(DOG in my game) deal the killing blowand save us all

The ash warrior guy explains it. The dogs eventually go "mad". Also talk to the elf he orders around to get a nice sword. :D

Yeah but if that was the case there could also be a dis-spell

Not true. They don't have to add anything magical, they might be the only ones with knowledge of chemistry.

I wonder if women Wardens will go to Orzimmar, now that you know how they breed.

Few women seem to become Wardens, most of the people who undergo the Joining die, and 9 out of 10 women who are tainted eventually perish. The odds are clearly small, but I see no reason why a female Warden might not wander into the Deep Roads, only to eventually begin the transformation into a broodmother.

Fortunately, I don't think female wardens are in any danger of becoming Brood Mothers.  They'll eventually become hybrids, just like the men.

depends if the darkspawn catch the female warden rather than kill they can try the conversion steps to broodmother them,

though preservation of the world suggests purge all Qunari females, its for the best really, no seriously

Broodmothers are hybrids.  They are just hybrids that have been created and changed by the darkspawn.

By hybrids I mean the human/darkspawn hybrids as discribed in The Calling.

That's what I'm saying, yes.  Broodmothers are human/darkspawn hybrids as described in the Calling, who are changed by the darkspawn.

Now that's an attractive thought for my female character... Posted Image

The type of hybrid that those Grey Wardens turned into weren't anything like Broodmothers.  Grey Wardens specifically turn into something that's between human and darkspawn.  Regular people who contract the taint either die or turn into ghouls if they're men, or transform into Broodmothers if female.

I thought Broodmothers were created through a more disturbing method of, um, tainting the women. Assuming I interpreted the crazy dwarf ramblings correctly.

lord....

1. A Mabari getting the taint is not the same as a joining. Kell's comment I took to either mean the dog had undergone the joining itself, or the "imprinting" gave the dog the same affects as kell.

2. Humans can survive the taint without going crazy or dying. That is the difference between the taint and the joining. It is possible to recover from the taint, just not common.

3. Avenus (soldiers Peak) says that magic is used on the blood for the joining that raw darkspawn blood won't work.

4. In the joining, the greywardens weren't turning into hybrids, they were turning into darkspawn. The architect just sped up the physical changes. Read the part at the end where one of the warden's realizes that he was being consumed by mindless rage and hate and that he no longer cared or valued what he once did. It isn't a hybridization, the wardens go into the roads to die rather then becoming what it is that they fight.
