I just beat the game on Hardcore/Infiltrator.   Mostly using Tactical Cloak and the Widow sniper rifle.
This playthrough i planned on using alot of Adrenaline Rush with the Mattock Heavy rifle and Viper sniper rifle with Disruptor Ammo. I could use some advice on a shotgun.  I also added Barrier as a Bonus Power.
This is where i plan on focusing my squad points first. (Please comment if you agree or disagree):

Miranda : Unstable Warp
Jacob : Squad Incendiary Ammo
Garrus: Concussive Shot / Squad Armor Piercing Ammo
Mordin : Only recruited for access to Tech Lab
Zaeed : Inferno Grenade / Concussive Shot
Grunt : Krogan Berserker (for regeneration) / Fortification
Jack : Squad Warp Ammo
Morinth : Dominate
Thane : Only recruited to obtain Viper Sniper Rifle
Legion : Combat Drone / AI Hacking
Tali : Combat Drone/ AI Hacking
Kasumi : Flashbang Grenade / Obtain Locust SMG

Lastly i planned on grabbing the Revenant Assualt Rifle from the Collector Cruiser.  I've read that Adrenaline Rush completely negates the recoil of this weapon.  Can anyone confirm this?
Anyway, thanks for reading this and I appriciate any advice that you can give me.

AR negates the recoil of all rapid firing weapons.

You may want to spec Samara/Morinth, Jack, Mordin and Kasumi for more crowd control powers, eg. pull, throw, shockwave, cryo blast, flashbang grenade. This will help as the Soldier (especially a mattock/viper one) already does insane damage.

I would also recommend using Thane with Drell Marksman (50% weapon damage), throw field, and unstable warp. He has insane weapon damage, especially with the Incisor or Viper sniper rifle, and decent crowd control options (especially paired with Jack/Samara/Jacob/Miranda for warp bombs).

Overall your build with Barrier/revenant seems like it will probably involve quite a bit of tanking, so with that in mind using someone like Grunt may be redundant. IMO my favorite all-purpose squad is Thane and Zaeed (In this case, spec him for the AOE versions of inferno grenade and concussive shot).

Just my two cents. I'm not an expert by any means, there's better players out there but yeah.

Very good point on Thane. I could replace Miranda's Warp with Thane's and have his weapon damage too. Thats exactly the kind of advice im lookin for. Thank you.

Grunt with his fortification, and Krogan shot gun is a good bullwork if you like to pick them off with the widow maker

If you're planing to use revenant and viper go with:
*hardened adrenaline rush/heightened is useful if you are playing with widow or claymore because of better bonus damage and you get one shot per adrenaline rush regardless of evolution.
*heavy distruptor ammo
*inferno ammo
*squad cryo ammo
*commando
*1 point bonus power slam/neural shock or flashbang grenade, if you don't want biotic/tech powers on your soldier

Soldier doesn't really need squadmates, but Miranda is really useful(squad bonus damage/health) and defense stripping with unstable warp(9s cooldown) or area overload. I usually pick the other squad member according to the mission.

Since you want to use the Revvy, I recommend the following build for the Soldier on Insanity:

10 - Hardened AR
00 - CS
10 - Heavy Disruptor
10 - Inferno
10 - Squad Cryo
10 - Shock Trooper
01 - BP of your Choice

The Soldier really does not need Barrier, Fortification or GSB, I barely used them when I tried them, so I agree with Hellbound555 on those, so the best power to go with is one of the 3-second powers, with Slam and Neural Shock in a tie for me, but that's up to you which power you prefer.

So the order that best serves the soldier in upgrading powers, from my experience, is Passive 1st, AR 2nd, Squad Cryo 3rd, Inferno and last Heavy Disruptor. This provided me the smoothest run on Insanity, since the Soldier has a weapon for any situation early on and can depend on the squad for ammo powers early on like other classes.

Lastly, the reason that Shock Trooper is what I recommend, is that the ~7% weapon damage is negligible, with the duration bonus helping out the Soldier's powers more for CC especially with Inferno once you have it leveled up. Also the 100% paragon/renegade boost helps with the speech checks. And the difference in Storm speed is a wash from my experience.

Edit: beat by a second in posting :D

But you do get 15% damage on your powers(ammo) and 10% more health is also negligible. It all depends on your playstyle.

That's true, with my experience I felt more comfortable with Shock Trooper and I depended on my ammo powers more for CC than damage. And the slightly longer CC from ammo powers helped me in more situations on Insanity.

Also, if BIG RIP was going to pick the Claymore or Widow than I'd have recommended Commando with Heightened to maximize damage.

For Tali, completely forget about putting any points into AI Hacking and spend them instead on her Energy Drain loyalty power - not only does it act like Overload for synthetics and shielded enemies, but it also refreshes and boosts her own shields.

Agreed 100%.

My soldier build is as followed:

Soldier:
AR- harden- 4
Concussive shot - 1
Cryo ammo squad - 4
Disrupt. Ammo - 3
Inferno ammo - 4
Combat mastery Commando - 4
Bonus pwr. - remaining pts Reave or slam
I use the Rev/Viper as my main weapons, I choose Commando for the 15% weapon damage and the 15%power damage , most ppl will say with harden AR use shocktrooper for a more tank build and with heighten use Commando for sniper use, but Harden AR / Commando with Rev rocks the power it gives kills foes better , the +10%health that shock trooper provides can be made up for by adding the right armor pcs and the 15% power duration is voided to me if your killing foes quicker with Commando, ammo powers cryo squad for CC , Inferno ammo , Burning thur armor and CC panic affect Disruptor I usually only go lvl 3 which damages shielding ,synthetics overload and weapons , if I need more power I bring a squad mate with over load or Arc projector and max out Zaeed's for squad , CS, I usually 1pt which most ppl say is useless but I have uses for it as well as my squads CS , bonus powers, love Reave and Slam , Reave for its stun and heath zapping and replenishing , or slam for taking foes off there feet and Cc.

I've dropped Barrier in favour of Slam. Defensive skills are more or less useless on Insanity (if you're starting to take hits, the only thing that'll save you is re-positioning, not Barrier, GSB,etc.) , and Slam's a bonus power you can rip off quickly that won't interfere with AR and (after you strip defenses) that can also be combined as the finishing move of a Pull or the starting move of a Warp bomb. It takes the tediousness out of just having the option of shooting everybody to death and replaces it with some combo move options as well. Also, the Geth Plasma shotgun just opens up whole new worlds, no more waiting 'til the Claymore at the Collector ship, use a powerful shotgun right from the get-go.
Seconded everything said about Thane.
