Or you make it so they hit your tank instead, removing 'only' a meager third to half of his health in one strike.

For keeping Anders alive, that's a hard one. His armor is really bad and you can't change it and his AI is retarded and constantly has him charging enemies and picking up aggro - EVEN WHEN TOLD TO FREAKING HOLD. He's just a bad party member period unless you are absolutely desperate for a healer.

When I played a mage, as soon as I even caught a hint of an enemy rogue, I'd start tossing AoE's and running around, lol.

Then how would you suggest healing your party members? The cooldown on health potions are SINFULLY long, and elite blood mages rape your health. Elite blood mages in particular are just as annoying as elite rogues. They have that AoE spell that rapes your health. I try to seperate my party members away from eachother so it doesn't affect us all. Another thing that bothers me are the waves of spawning enemies appearing out of nowhere. Once Anders dies, everything goes down to hell because he's the reason why I've survived most fights.
The current quest I'm having trouble on is "Faith". It's Sebastien's companion quest at Act 3. You have kill these three mages in the Keep. It's fairly easy killing them off but the leader uses the AoE spell on Aveline and her HP gets raped. After killing them two of the mages with my rogue, a dozen corpses and two ELITE Rage Demons randomly spawn out of nowhere and start raping Sebastien and Anders while the blood mage is still alive. I kill the blood mage but Aveline dies in the process while Sebastien and Anders get ravaged by corpses. The Rage Demons have the ability to disappear and backstab, just like rogue. We all die and the fight repeats again.

For mages your best bet is to plant your party members' backs firmly against the wall or run away for up to 10 seconds (pause and look back) until the rogue reappears.

Plus personally, I wouldn't recommend completely spreading out your party. You need them reasonably close to eachother so they can kill off what's attacking eachother. All ranged units especially should stick together. Melee's, yeah out and away so no ff from them if on nightmare but still "together" so you are working together to pick off the swarms and not everyone off by themselves aggro'n different groups.

I've found though, that the best way to deal with the one who try to pull a backstab, is to stand on a corner, or get creative with glyph placement.
Paralysis, or Repulsion right on you ass end, will usually stop them.

If all else fails, have a mage with the first tactic as petrify target highest health usually works wonders.

I'm not sure if its a glitch on my console. I have enemy rogues that backstab every 2-5 seconds.
They are easily the most annpying enemy in the game but once your level 12+ you should be able to eliminate them quickly with cross- class combos.
Archer rogues are so annoying they have a high ROF and never miss.

44428 nature damage? I'm guessing going duelist was my mistake lol. What's your build if you don't mind?

Honestly I think going duelist + assassin is fantastic. I can use bows or daggers with every skill, I can kite if need be or just get up in their face. For some reason with all the duelist skills and passives I have almost 4000 def, which gives me 80% dodge even against bosses.
Bow + Assassinate = ranged 1hko on those pesky blood mages and enemy rogues. Swap to daggers, Vendetta 1hko anything that got staggered, stabby time. Who needs the dual wep or archery trees, duelist and assassin cover everything you could ever need.

2) Horror/Crushing Prison/Petrify/Glyph of Paralysis/Miasmic Flask/Etc
3) Focus fire
I'll admit my first time through enemy rogues were really annoying. Once you learn to just CC and obliterate them (same for enemy mages) they're pretty easy to handle, even on Nightmare.
Also, don't completely neglect constitution on your mages/rogues. Dead party members do no damage/healing.
By the way, Bow + Assassinate is fun and all, but if you're not sure you'll 1hko your target, using daggers is better. It doesn't say it anywhere in the skill description, but you actually hit twice with Assassinate if using daggers.

For more durable targets yeah I use dagger assassinate. Well, Mark -> Vendetta -> Assassinate, Ive yet to see something survive that (excluding bosses). It will take out a dragon or revenant in one combo, and Vendetta's long range teleport puts you on target instantly. Then teleport back to a friend with back to back if the area is too hot. Usualy you just stab everything narby to death tho.

Holy Smite is point blank, does not require a target. So as soon as a rogue goes into stealth, you pop Holy Smite and it knocks the rogue out of stealth, after which you hit him with the Templar tree's Silence to prevent him from stealthing again.
Then just pound him face down in the dust.
Other abilities can obviously be used for the same purpose, like ground targeted aoes from mages.
Remember this will be different on Nightmare due to friendly fire.

Not mine but the enemy. They disappear and one-shot Anders! WTF!!! How do you avoid this?!
By not playing on Nightmare mode? lol j/k. Seriously though if it seems to be an issue, you might need a little more Con for him. Unfortunately you dont gain HP every level anymore so if you want more HP, you have to invest in Con.
