Oversite to add variety to the enemies. just like how there were Ogres in the cutscene for the first blight in the DA:Os first cutscene when the Quanri who weren't even in Thedas yet are the things that become Ogres.
Or its there to show that Cadrian wasn't the first to make golems.

The other thing I thought was odd was that they attack me when I go to rescue the three dwarf brothers but they've apparently been letting all the darkspawn mosey on by them for however long they've been sitting there.
