Yes.  You have to go from Fenris to Anders in Act 2 after Fenris dumps you, then complete the romance with Anders in Act 3.  You will get "Flirtatious" for initiating a romance with Fenris, and "Romantic" or whatever it's called for completing the romance with Anders.

Of course, you have to keep Anders alive.

Because this is a fictional world we're all playing in and Hawke is a fictional character, I prefer the extremes of the Anders relationship and how it's more dramatic in terms of the main plot.  I would never romance someone like him in real life, but hey, I'm all aboard the crazy train in the DA-verse.

My fiance is a bit looney at times, I have to admit.  Though I'm not sure how he puts up with me.

I prefer Fenris and probably won't ever romance Anders. It has nothing really to do with him being a terrorist, or a whiny mage, or calling Fenris a dog. It has everything to do with Justice. Justice is always there. Seeing. Everything. You. Are. Doing. Everything. Yeeaahh, I'll pass on that.

Also someone mentioned Fenris' crappy dialog after your mother dies. How well the scene plays out depends on what dialog option you chose. He'll either leave or he'll sit down beside you.

Fenris looks too thin and little, I noticed he's shorter than my fem Hawke urgh. I'd let my Hawke sleep with him but Anders get all my love.

I did the Anders friend-mance on my first play through. I was so crushed that he used my Hawke to blow-up the chantry that I killed him.

I rival-manced Fenris my second play through as a mage. It was nice, but Fenris was so angry all of the time. It was a bit too schizophrenic for me.

This time, I'm friend-mancing Fenris. Fenris is much sweeter. I know he leaves after the first night, but I wasn't really as much upset as concerned. He is simply overwhelmed by everything that has happened and needs to take a step back. My Hawke will wait for him to clear his head.

As for preference, I like Fenris much better. For all his faults, he is much more compelling to me. That being said, I will rival-mance Anders on my next play through. I've currently got Anders at 100% rivalry in the second act of my current play through and he's much easier to swallow when rivaled.

If you think you will never be able to understand Anders's cause and situation he's facing, don't romance Anders. You will just hate him at the end of Act III.

Yep, in addition fo Justice's doing, you just crash him to pieces by making him to side with templar. He sounds so like .. he will kill himself after the final battle. I like his last words when I side with mages much better although it lacks the final battle kiss.

Fenris because of that voice....Gideon Emery is so awesome! I friend-romanced fenris my first playthru and it was so sweet because he seems all tough and angry but hawke makes him all soft and romantic . he's like a lil elven puppy!

This is actually why I'm having a hard time romancing Anders on a subsequent play-through.  I'm a little freaked out at a romance that ends with me reaching for the murder knife.  I was SO ANGRY, though.  The lies!  My foolish naivete!  

Edited to add that Fenris does have the sexiest voice in the game.  And puppy eyes.

I agree shoudlprolly romane Anders first cuz once u go tevinter elf, there's no going back. LOl j/k but for real i am having a horrible time trying to romance any other companion

You know, in Mass Effect 2 and DA:O I was a devoted fan girl to one specific romance option throughout my play thoughts, (even while trying out the others.)

Dragon age 2 makes this path hard to continue, I enjoyed both romance options tremendously! I know I know I want to pick a side, I feel... wicked... but I can't just yet!
To be honest this is not something I am sad about. If anything it means Bioware is doing a better job at creating these characters us ladies love to, well, love.

But in my opinion I think the best path for, "Romance" in Dragon age 2 is to play as a mage defending Rogue/ Warrior and romance Anders. It gives the best, "wow" factor at the end for the sheer fact you stuck your characters neck on the line for him only for the inevitable... boom. (Oh yeah and your sister, I guess I should stick up for mages for her too )

2nd play through romance Fenris as a Mage, his character is adorable but come on girls, mean fenris is a lot better than nice fenris... Rivalry romance for him is by FAR the way to go. (Besides, I know you were a good little girl on your first play through, now you can roll a blood mage and be the little **** you always wanted to be.) 

But seriously, props to Bioware for making two amazing male characters to push our emotions during another one of their epic games. I know the guys out number us by a butt load when it comes to consumers who play your games, but you all have no clue how much we appreciate you taking the time to add this stuff in for us femnerd

I've romanced both on the rivalry track and I much, much prefer Fenris. Regardless of the ending, I just thought Anders' romance lines were way too cheesy.

The saddest part about the romances in DA2. The Humans are the liars. At most the other two just misled you when you met them but were honest right after. Meanwhile both Anders & Isabela lie directly to your face.

I very much agree with this. Have romanced Fenris, Isabela, and Anders in different games and was very pleased with how different their story arcs were. I am not able to choose between Anders or Fenris if I had to pick which was the better romance. Fenris is passionate and intense. Great build-up and great way to go out with a bang. Anders is verbal about his feelings, with his terms of endearments, and is appreciative of his relationship with Hawke. Isabela is the one with the wall around her heart and sabotages her chances during courtship until she realizes she's about to let the real deal get away. Glimpses of her vulnerability makes you go d'aww and Hawke's patience with her finally pays off.  (Haven't done Merrill yet!)
