Asking for evil?

Court of Night, by Kenneth J. La Mella
Woooow!!! Amazing.
But very evil. You've been warned.
As beautiful as evil.
Better than drows, v....... :alien:

Yes, I'm asking for evil :kissing:
And beautiful is a definite bonus!
Thank you again, J

Well, I feel you should know the true story about it...
Kenneth J. La Mella certainly shows some real talent to "modernize" NWN with the nicest latest community's mods, not his, now available. And his Court of Night surely belongs to the most beautiful NWN I ever played.
But... what he does is nothing but copying, with many bugs, an already existing greatest module, and only adding, without the slightest technical knowledge, the best visuals made by the community.
Which makes it a surely beautiful but totally out of control and forged module, almost impossible to play because of tones of bugs... unless you're that kind of player who would never quites when facing such a beauty... like someone I kind of know well.
The reason why I, myself, voted 10 for it... before I found out.
I still find it well diserved "somehow"... I only wished the whole truth could have been told here.

Now, here is the true original (cult) module:
Vampire – Heaven Defied, by Chojin
I'm sorry to say, even today, I did enjoyed both. But...
Your call.
Have fun.

Just a heads up: "Court of Night" is actually a "bastard child" of Vampire: Heaven Defied;
< snip >
jml could confirm that; at the time when he recommended Court of Night, he wasn't aware of it yet.

So, if you want a more polished and original game, I recommend "Vampire: Heaven Defied" instead. Unless you prefer the graphical overhaul, don't mind the bugs and are such an evil aligned player that you don't care about the ethics of using other people's work without their consent. In that case, suit yourself and play "Court of Night". ;)

How delightful! [smilie]http://social.bioware.com/images/forum/emoticons/smile.png[/smilie] Ethical dilemas in the meta-game!

And how did *you* resolve this little contretemps? Did you play in either? Did you burn CoN to a CD and jump up and down on it? Did you snobbishly turn up your nearly non-existant froggy nose? Or, perhaps, you sat in that anonymous penumbra of the eternal wall-flower and snickered at all the *inventive* invective?
I am here to learn, oh great evil... thing. [smilie]http://social.bioware.com/images/forum/emoticons/kissing.png[/smilie]

I, of course, will dip my dainty little toe into each. :P

But, my dear J (may I call you J?), it always *is* my call ;)
That you are so honest in your appraisal of each is... honestly, it's a weakness I may exploit someday :D
Nothing like enlisting kind and generous people to nefarious ends... *such* a thrill!

I feel all warm and fuzzy now :)

'looks like Olivier and I did nothing but make it only more spicy for your vampiric teeth.
Both modules should surely feed you well.
Now, enjoy the show!

More than that, dear one.  You led me directly into conflict. Thank you!

And I am interested in how Olivier resolved his own personal ethos...

Says so much about a person, I think, whether they shy away from conflict or investigate it; whether they accept community "wisdom" and follow blindly without ever investigating for themselves; whether they ever take on the sheer chutzpah of thinking and deciding for themselves... and then accepting the consequences (or dumping them on some unsuspecting patsy - always the best kind of patsy!:D).

*smiles coyly* Would you like to hear my opinion of both mods when I am done?

If I am to tell the truth, it wasn't really a question of ethics to me but a question of polish and interest. I played Vampire years ago and loved it. I played Court of Night recently, for a bit, took it for an independent module but couldn't really get into it because of the bugs. Additionally, I had a feeling something was off, and then it suddenly dawned on me why it all seemed so familiar. I don't really like to replay modules and the bugs were no fun, so I saw no reason to continue playing CoN. Simple as that..

Ahhh. A person who thinks with their brain & feels with their heart, rather than vice versa. (And I do like vice far more than Verse :P )

You are definitely someone to read when I see your name on something.

Ciao, cute little froggy thing :kissing:
