OK, I give up...I cannot for the life of me figure how to equip and/or switch out a second set of weapons.

My primary weapon is my bow but I want to switch out to twin daggers when mobs are in melee range. Point and laugh if you must but please take pity on an old man and tell me what I am missing here.

They took it out for this game. You're not missing anything.

Aggg! I was afraid of that, but I was hoping that I just was not seeing it. Thanks for the reply!

Yeah, it was sort of depressing when I found out too.

The most fun I had in Origins/Awakening was developing a dual function rogue archer/2WF build - a slow burner, but man was it worth it. This DA2 decision is yet another in a long line of absurd dumb-down decisions designed to appeal to the console market. No races, no equipment for party, etc etc... I hope they fail miserably and get back to designing games people want to play obsessively for months

Problem is, most of us are going to play this game obsessively, and buy all the DLC even though we don't agree with many of the design decisions. I've only played  around twelve hours so far, and I know I'm going to love this game, regardless of all the things I think they've done wrong compared to the previous one.

First off they didn't do it because of consoles. Not entirely sure why they would honestly, its very irritating. Was just thinking about it on my mage here trying to play on Nightmare. Finding your average bandit who's completely immune to lightning 'and' cold (from staffs only..? cone of cold still hurts) it's a pain to constantly go into inventory to swap out elemental staff types just to deal with that ****.

Still dunno why on NM Qunari are always outright immune to lightning, wish I was born being immune to having my innards melted. Freakin' wish they had a 'hardcore' mode toggle like vegas had with the bleed out at 10% and FF on amongst a few other Nightmare only features. Minus the horribly stupid, arbitrary immunities.

My guess though as to why is due to the change in combat, probably a design decision wanting to force people to stick to one way. Replay and all that BS.

I miss this feature as well, especially on my archer. There doesn't seem to be a useful ranged speciality tree so I keep getting skills useful for melee. When an enemy goes melee with him I want to swiftly swap to the melee weapons instead. Though wishing for it will not bring it to us, when did BioWare last give us something we asked for lol. Not many companies alter their games very much after release.

Never know I guess, they've said there looking at getting the auto-attack toggle into console since they had a mix up at the printing and it didn't make it into the shipped version. Entirely possible they may add a weapon swap in though I'd wager that's more work and would have to be on all versions.
