At first, I wanted to romance Merril but then halfway into Act 2, I decided against that and wanted to go with Isabella.  I went to my estate at night and broke it off with Merril.  Does that mean than there's no chance with Isabella, or anyone else for that matter?

Curiously, I went back into my estate after and Isabella was there talking about my dog.  She said she couldn't remember why she came in the first place and left.  I didn't get a chance to talk really.
