So, after finishing Dragon Age 2, I decided to replay Origins (like a lot of others, it seems!)
Here's the thing. In Dragon Age 2, while doing Merrill's quests, she says that Tamlen MUST be in the mirror -- after all, his body was nowhere to be found! This is her only explanation of why he's gone.
But in my Dalish playthrough of Origins, I ASKED Duncan if we could look for the body -- and Duncan, infront of Merrill and me, says that the body was most likely taken by Darkspawn. He refused to say why, but I'm assuming his body was taken to a Brood Mother.
Anyway. I think it's funny, also, how much Merrill changed from Origins to 2! In Origins, she's confident, knows what she's doing, and knowledgable. In 2 she's naiive and simple. ... Uh... no.
Merrill has no Continuity

she was written as a minor character who would be nothing more than a temporary companion during the tutorial origin part of the game. think ser gilmore or you thug buddy if you're a dwarf commoner.
so instead of keeping the boring and serious keeper type character (who'd be just like that boring elf mage in awaking (btw easily worst character in DA:O / awakening / DA2 she's horrible) they made her much more interesting and fun to have around.
while yeah, i'll admit its a minor retcon, its one of those cases where its a damn good retcon to make.
i think using a couple minor characters from origins and changing them slightly for DA2 was a good thing, helps connect the two games and allows more story to work between them.

Wasn't it stated somewhere that Merrill is all nervous because she lost her friends and all the stuff with the blood magic?

In Origins she was the Keeper's first and most likely would have become the leader of your clan.
In DA:2 she is an outcast surrounded by people and things she has never dealt with before.
About Tamlen in the mirror.
I remember that in my playthrough she mentioned she was sure she saw Tamlen while out in the markets one day. I think it is entirely possible that the stress of fixing the mirror is taking a toll on her mentally.

I think Tamlen's body poses a problem only if you imported a Dalish Elf save game from DA:O. In DA:O, Duncan was only present at whatever origin story you were playing at the time. If you were not playing a Dalish Elf, Tamlen's body would just be gone and Merrill would have no way of knowing what had happened. But if you did import a Dalish Elf playthrough... well, I guess denial is a very strong emotion. She may just not believe Duncan, not knowing why the Darkspawn would take bodies away rather than just leave them lying about as the mindless creatures they seem.
The personality change, though, I dunno. It's as with Anders: I'm not quite sure why they didn't just introduce a new character.

I played through DA:O as a rogue dalish and Tamlen shows up at camp one night and begs/tricks/forces me into killing him. He's bald and crazed.
As to Merril it's entirely possible she was fronting when she was going back to the temple etc as she was acting as the first and had a load of responsibility. Add in that when Hawke comes across her in DA2 she's on the verge of becoming outcast and has quarreled with her Keeper and offended and shamed her clan it's natural she'd be nervous and high strung. Just my version.

Anders personality changed was completely explained in the game. he flat out says having Justice in him has warped and chagned his personality. Merril was a throwaway pointless character however so changing her dozen lines of dialogue estabilshed character isn't really a big deal whining about changing merrils character is silly as hell.
she had like a couple lines of unimortant dialogue and you forgot about her completely until she was announced in DA2, and you had to replay that part to remember what it was.
