Okay, I'm a little confused on this one.

I go to the caves in the Sundermount to get good ol' Zevran, and when I try to get close to the Varterral, everyone goes into attack mode.  Only they can't go anywhere.  At the bottom of the steps, there's a stone door (that isn't supposed to open, and doesn't) and instead of crossing into the room to fight the giant bug critter, it's like my characters are running at a wall/barrier.  There's nothing there.  No rocks, no wall, nothing.  And when I try to go back up the steps, I can't.  I can't climb the steps or even manage to exit the room.  I have to wind up reloading the auto-save or the previous save (which happens to be right inside the door, the same place as the autosave).  I've tried going back to other saves, playing through, and going back.  Everytime I do, I wind up stuck.

Is it my game?  My console?  or is this just a really, really, REALLY bad glitch?

We're looking into this, just need some clarification. Before fighting the Varterral, you fight through some spiders. Are you doing this?

One of the testers can reproduce what you're seeing, but only if he doesn't fight the spiders and just runs straight through.

Yes, I killed all the spiders. If it'll help I also have Anders, Fenris, and Merrill in my group. I know people are having problems with Isabella being present and causing problems, but she's not part of my crew at the moment. But I have killed all the spiders.

I'm still unable to leave the area or fight the Varterral. I've removed the disc, restarted my PS3, and reinserted my disc and I'm always reloaded to that same spot and I'm still stuck. I've looked all over the internet, and apparently I'm the only one with this problem. Could it be my console?

Did you get past it?  Or did you just leave it and move on?  because I can't even leave the area.  Can you continue playing your game?  I can't even exit the cave because I can't even climb the steps out of the area by the Varterral.  My characters haven't locked onto the creature yet, but I can't even climb the steps.  And if I try it too much it causes my game to freeze.

Still no response from Bioware. I'm seriously contemplating sending my copy back to Amazon, because if I can't beat it then there's no sense in paying 60 bucks for a game.

Okay, so I'm bumping this up again because I'm still unable to play my game. I'm contemplating contacting Bioware about this, because the forum isn't accomplishing anything.

I'm going to need some further clarification or details here.

Are your party members stuck on the far side of the barrier while you are stuck in with the Varterral?
Are you playing a rogue and leaving the rest of your party behind?
Are you loading back to the same save each time or starting the level over?

I could still use some clarification, but I believe I have a fix in any case. It should be in a future patch.

In response to your questions, both my party and I are stuck on the side without the Varterral. We can see him and sometimes lock onto him which causes everyone to draw their weapons. Regardless, we're stuck on the opposite side of the barrier. If I push on the barrier too often, I then cannot get up the steps, and wind up stuck between to barrier, which I have dubbed the Mime's Box of Frustration.

I am playing as a rogue, but I am not leaving my party behind. My party follows with me.

I did both (in concerns to the saves). I sometimes reload the auto-save which puts me back at the cave entrance, and when I try to leave the cave freezes on my party trying to leave the cave and thus locking up my PS3. I then would reload the save that I saved personally, which is right before the varterral (the last time I fought one it nearly killed my entire group, so I panicked and saved when I saw in the guide book that I'd fight one again. Hey, the book says save often so I do. I just didn't save multiple files like I guess I'll do the next time I play another Bioware game). Does that help?
