This is about your personal choice of wich side you choose and if you want you can add why. Let's see how many people on the forums favored templars or mages.  This isn't a morality issue, choose your side and live and die by it.

I for one choose Templar's because mages are too much of a risk. They created the darkspawn, they harbor demons or can become unwilling hosts no matter how experienced the mage is. So I stick with Templar's to the death.

Also I couldn't honestly find the option for a poll so if you want recreate one for a poll that be great.

Mages. But I would prefer to champion the cause of everyone who believes that people should be able to sleep in the sanctity of their own home, without templars, the chantry, the crown, etc peeping into their lives.

My Personal Choice? Dont have one. am to unsure
As for my characters, well they all differ it really depends.
My Warden: Mages, He respects the Templars and is a devoted Andrastian and follower of the chantry.. But if he was forced to choose.. he would choose mages easily, and doesn't agree with their mistreatment... Plus the woman he loves is a mage (Morrigan)

My Hawke: He couldn't be more unsure. He was all Pro mage all the way up to the point where his mother was killed by one, then he was still pro mage but was plagued with a bit of doubt.
He was still mainly pro mage however..
In The final choice though, he choose to side with the Templars. He felt siding with the mages would have dire repercussions and it would have caused riots and unrest with the populace who would have tried to kill the mages anyway.. Plus the divine was already talking about an exalted march on kirkwall as he learned from "Sister Nightingale" and A mage uprising that didn't get put down wouldn't have helped matters.

Plus he spend six years building a life in Kirkwall, he didn't want that to all collapse and have been forced into hiding again. So yeah he sidied with the Templars,

Mages.

Though Meridith and Orsino were both insane; and Kirkwall was in general one huge cluster**** of corruption, the Circle had nothing to do with the Chantry's destruction. Meridith even admits the anullment is only to appease the populace. I would not condone the slaughter of innocents. And I could never condemn Bethany.

At first, the Mages, but then i kept running into Blood Mages, and then Blood Mages i saved kidnapped my sister and tried to kill me, then when the Chantry is destroyed by Anders and i decided to side with the mages, some of them went nuts, became abominations and tried to kill me, and then on our last stand, the first enchanter went nuts, turned into a Harvester and tried to kill me, and even after being a bastard to the templars they wanted to spare my life and attacked their own commander to help me.

I'm siding with the Templars this time!

Mages

Either Bethany is one of those innocents, and I felt a really strong connection to her. Could have something to do with how I view family, but no doubt about it. As long as Bethany is in the circle I side with the mages.

or

I am a mage, and I hate templars, period.....

I am trying desperately to figure out how to do at least one play through where I side with the templars. To me there is only one way I see and that is take Bethany with me to the Deep Roads and let her die there, then I have no family left, and won't be playing a mage. Then after what that blood mage did to my mother it might be enough to turn me against them. But that is meta-gaming to force a decision that I wouldn't otherwise make.

I tend to lean towards the mages, but both leaders were idiots - it's just that Meredith was the more immediate idiot at the point of having to choose. The majority of the Templars seem to end up supporting you either way once she goes all weird on them.

Templars, Orsino's weak will showed me that what the chantry does is good although I didnt support all of Meredith's ways of running the circle I approve of the Templars in general.

Considering the amount of Blood Mages we encountered I'm siding with the templars. Something has gone way out of hand here.

Mages. I have more family in magical side than in oppressive side. Father's a mage, mother got a mage resesive gene, sister's a mage, cute Merril is a mage, Aveline doesn't agree with Templars, my healer is a mage, okay Fenris hate mages but he owes me that big sword, and Varric loves to defy authorities he would side with mages, given time. Isabela will love what can mages do with my "sail mast".

So yeah, Mages.

Me and not my different Hawkes?

I vote Mages, and hope to God that all those blood mages at teh end were just people doing their last resort because they were about to be killed.

I tend towards the mage cause for the same reason I have sympathy for any minority oppressed on the cause of gross generalizations.

But I have to admit, in DA2, I lacked a cause, I lacked a side I wanted to support. Both sides were so hell bent on destroying each other, and countless times over-zealous templars and evil blood mages were thrust in my face. I simply lost all sympathy for both sides and felt neither deserved me championing them. I kept looking for a way to mediate or save the innocents caught up in the struggle, but in the end I was forced to choose.
In the end, I chose the mages, because I couldn't let Meredith slaughter all the innocent mages for what Anders had done. But it wasn't a very satisfactory choice, because almost all the mages I got to see from that point on were more evil blood mages wholly undeserving of my support, topped by the way Orsino 'rewarded' my support.

When the 'epilogue' included mention that my name was rallying cry for the mages, and how the circles rose up against the templar and set the world on fire, I was shaking my head, because I never wanted that. However, it was gratifying to hear that I had defended the mages against brutal injustice, and when the seeker mentions my champion as maybe the only one who could stop this madness, I found myself nodding. Stopping the madness was all I wanted to do throughout the game, and it was pretty depressing that I failed so completely at it. But at least it gives me some hope that I can stop the madness and write a better ending for the story in the expansion.

Thrask's faction had the right idea--mages and Templars working together to build a better Circle. If Grace hadn't gone insane, and if they hadn't resorted to abducting Hawke's brother/sister, I'd have fully supported them.

Since the Templars apparently rebelled right along with the Circles after DA2 was all said and done, this sort of mentality may yet be around to support, so I'm throwing my lot in with them. For the mages who wish to reform the very Circle that keeps them in check, and for the Templars who side with them!
