So I just found out that if I pick up any of them I screw the awesome reward and achievment at the end... So far I have picked all of them up and I have one more to go... So I do still get the XP? Do I get any reward at all? Kinda dumb that its so easy to screw this quest up...

Yeah whats going on with this quest? Tell me what you know. I read the first one and got 2 attribute points and now its in my inventory. But it is described as loot, and I tried to destroy it from the inventory screen and nothing happened. Are you supposed to destroy them from the scroll wheel.

As far as I can tell, if you pick any of them up rather than destroying in the dialogue option you screw yourself over (the quest doesn't even end when you get all 5). You have to destroy every single one of them (without reading) to get the true reward. I suppose it's the opposite of the fade quest where you reap the rewards for being an evil ass.

That doesn't make any sense... Why is it even a dialogue option!??

By taking the books you get +5 friendship with Merrill per book. Other than that I wouldn't know. I just kept the books in my house after I collected them to keep them away from dangerous minds. I did wonder why there wasn't any 'end' to the quest after picking up the books.
