If Anders is a huge part of the main plot, why did you not secure his original VA?

Sorry, can't type in the original message box, but I just wanted to say I felt detached from anders and didn't care to even listen to anything he had to say because he was completely re-designed.

Not a troll... Just not the same sounding anders and it threw everything off, for me anyways

He sounds similar, but it IS a different VA and it's noticeable. The personality change made sense because of what happens in between games. The voice was an issue, I agree, if a minor one.

I wondered about that, too. But his present VA is arguably more fitting of his present character than Awakening's actor would be--which says something about how his personality has changed, really.

Because Cullen IS Anders. They share they same voice actors in Origins and Awakening and I guess Bioware thought Cullen was more important to the story as to keep his voice from Origins.

Am I the only one who knows this?

Also, every bartender in Origins has the same voice as Bodahn with the exception of the fat guy in the Redcliffe tavern and the dude at the tavern near Lake Calenhad.

That's interesting, though the VA didnt sound exactly the same from Origins to awakening, so he probably could have managed to do both. Idk.

I thought they should have kept the VA as Ander and not Cullen, but that's just my opinion. I wouldn't even remember Cullen if it weren't for the romance mod to be honest...

I just did a side by side listen, and they sound pretty similar, I can see why they thought it wouldnt be a big deal. Still, obviously people have noticed, so yeah.

Looking at the credits for both Orgins and Awakenings will confirm it for you.

Because they felt like it.

Personally, I like Howden miles better than Ellis. *shrug*

I know this thread is about Anders, but did Nathaniel's Voice actor change? I know he only has a bit part in DAII but he sounded way different to me...

It's the same reason Isabela's voice actress changed, too. The original voice actress from Origins also voiced Anora, and they didn't want any confusion between the two.

Now that I think about it, if Cullen and Anders had been given the same actor, the similarity would have been too obvious, with their close proximity to each other.

Unfortunately, it has the side effect of making Anders less amusing, but honestly, I think Cullen would have suffered more for an actor change; his voice just fits him perfectly.

Isabela's voice change I liked. The new VA for her is pretty damn good, sort of coolly and detachedly amused at everything, yet passionate enough when the moment calls for it. Too bad they "flanderized" the character itself...

Isabela's voice change? What about her skin change, or her hair change?

When it was implied that this was the same Isabela I met at the Pearl, I was flabbergasted. Seriously?

I like how if you take her with you to meet King Alistair he goes. "WHOA, Isabela, you've changed."

Apparently he asked more money than EA was willing to pay, probably. I am not sure.

Greg Ellis does some aditional voices in DA2. I believe voice actors ge paid per lines or something like that.

Edit: Btw, the guy voicing Anders in DA2 (Adam Howden) voiced Constable Aidan in Awakening.

I thought Isabella was perfectly believable. She just wasn't exactly the same in every way to the person you saw for about five minutes in Origins. As to Anders, I didn't even realise they changed the VO, but then, I didn't play all the way through Awakening.

Doesn't she reply that they all have?

I liked the redesigns. All of the important characters in DAO with the exception of Morrigan used models that could be duplicated with the character creator. The fact that the companions in DA2 have a unique appearance was nice -- I can no longer be Merrill's evil (er, good) twin without modding! I'm also glad that the female hair from the last game wasn't used. By and large it it is ugly.

I too liked Isabela's new voice actress. Her constant bemusement was excellent. Some of my favorite dialogue in the game is when she's encouraging Aveline through abuse to not be concerned with what others think.
