If Anders is a huge part of the main plot, why did you not secure his original VA?

The Isabella voice actress change was welcomed. The Anders voice actor change...not so much.

But the guy's not a bad voice actor at all. I just miss the old Anders.

I can't say I especially liked Nathaniel's or Alistair's DA2 face, though. I prefer the Origins versions of those two, character creator or not.

I watched that exchange with Isabela. Gotta say, I appreciate the occasional self-depreciating in-jokes this game cracks. If you can laugh at yourself, after all, you'll never be bored.

Bards across Thedas will sing of the day that Alistair had an unfortunate swooping-related face squishing accident.

I wondered about that, too. But his present VA is arguably more fitting of his present character than Awakening's actor would be--which says something about how his personality has changed, really.

Well, that should be up to the actor not the voice.
Any actor can play any role, the original Anders would have been able to change his voice to suit the changed role better.

I thought Isabella was perfectly believable. She just wasn't exactly the same in every way to the person you saw for about five minutes in Origins. As to Anders, I didn't even realise they changed the VO, but then, I didn't play all the way through Awakening.

saw for 5 minutes? try spent (game fast forward) a bit of time training with her..and possible having sex and/or up to a foursome with her.

sorry but it could be quite a BIT more then 5 minutes.

Its funny.. Bioware reuses the voice actors that cant do a different voice for each character. But they seemingly dont reuse the voice actors that can actually do different voices for each character

The voice was changed because he was made a love interest. LI's get special attention paid to them to ensure they are as broadly appealing as possible. The original VA has kind of a nasal-y drone and sounds a bit nerdy. I do miss the old Anders, though.

Andraste's Knicker-Weasels, indeed.

It was my impression that they were considering Greg Ellis to continue the roll, but felt the new VA was better suited to the changes made to the character. People keep saying that the different voice made him a different character. I think it's the other way around. This is NOT the happy-go-lucky guy you knew in Awakenings. His character is far more tortured. I trust Bioware's decision here. If they felt Adam could handle the role better than Greg, then that's the way they should have gone.

Still, it felt really odd whenever I talked to Cullen and saw Anders standing there with me. Even worse when they interacted. Anders arguing with himself. Creepy.

.... D: Now I'm missing the old Anders VA. I was able to resist the impulse because I hadn't played Awakening in so long and had played Origins more recently so Cullen was just Cullen and Anders was Anders. Though listening to the clip of Nathaniel starting on Anders and his robes too REALLY makes me wonder what happened to Nathaniel's voice between Awakening and DAII. I'm assuming they used the same actor for Nathaniel because that actor apparently did work on DAII too, but I'm wondering if he was worried it'd sound to alike and that's why he made his voice so gravelly for Nathaniel in DAII. It wasn't as prominent in Awakening...

The sexy playfulness in Anders' old voice...how I miss you. How I miss your lighthearted smart aleckness. Basically the only line that made me think of Old!Anders was when he was giving Fenris a hard time about how his master didn't kill him as a slave and Fenris retorts, "How did the Templars manage to not kill you?" and Anders replies, "-I'm- charming." Otherwise he seriously just lost everything that made him fun... and charming. Ironically.
