... and loot was 21 silvers and an injury potion.

Not to mention it was dead by the time I'd burned through my 4 cooldowns on my 2H warrior.

There are more glaring issues with the game, but the cheapening of once-fearsome foes is a bit of a bother. Kind of like a microcosm of the whole game from the POV of Origins fans.

On the other hand, the new emissaries look great.

Most things are easier now, they don't have the moves they had in DA. I never got grabbed by an Ogre, crunched by a Dragon, party summoned by a Revenant, or jumped on by a spider.

Either I was very lucky, or those things don't happen in DA2.

I think it's because if they did you'd die hideously. If an ogre grabs you one heal every 40s isn't going to cut it.

If they were as tough as they were in Origins, you'd be crying it was unfair. DA2 is already hard enough. Actually, if any enemies had Overwhelm, you'd die. Horribly. I had to bump it down to casual so the High Dragon's super munch wouldn't rape me.

Not really it would balance out not having all those waves of trash. Those attacks were only deadly if you were soloing in DA.

Revenants arent really Mini-bosses anymore like they were in DAO. On the other hand Rage Demons are stronger than they were in DAO. Honestly the one enemy I hate seeing show up are Arcane Horrors, if I miss noticing one spawn.. and fail burn it down. They tend to obliterate my party.

I havent played it on nightmare yet though so I couldn't say if they get any nastier.

The High Dragon's munching did such pathetic damage in DA2 even on nightmare, Aveline's bodyguard ability is just too ridiculously good. Imho, they should have at least kept the Ogre grab since it's such an iconic move.

And Arcane Horrors were the most menacing sight in DA:O, but in DA2 it was rather weak.

They could lower the number of enemies rather than lovering the quality per enemy.

Aside from AWR the pride demon was the only thing that forced a reload. I missed my CCC and it cast some sort of area wipe spell. Second time the CCC went as planned and it just died instantly.

They went from fighting 1 tough mob with cool abilities, to fighting wave after wave after wave after wave after wave after wave after wave of ****ty mobs, except for some boss fights, where it is still like before.

This was probably needed to link Awesome to a button click, as I guess it's more awesome to see 30 skeletons explode, rather than defeating one extremely tough opponent, where you have to reload your game several times until you know the fight / have the accurate buffs / gear / potions / ... . I preferred the old way however.

I recall Origins having waves. They just didn't come as fast.

The Ogre probably never got Mike's memo telling it to "press a button so something awesome would happen."

More importantly they didn't happen every fight, and when they did there were good reasons -  a mage summoned more shades, darkspawn came in from another room, a darkspawn ran off and drew you into another pack, etc etc.

Done occaisionally like that, it works well. When it gets to the point that for every fight, the mobs you see are only 1/4 of what will eventually show up, and you can't position your party because you've no idea where the new ones will teleport in to, you have a problem

yea.. Revenents were quite easy.. The first time I saw one (Sundermount I think), I was like "Oh no! not these guys".. but he fell fast.. almost a suicide. Not complaining because there were plenty of tough fights in the game

There are two revenants in act 3 who spawn together and live up to their old legacy.

This. I'm tired of people playing on casual and then complaining about difficulty. I faced them on hard and it was hell to pay. It kinda made me wanna curse.

Heal? You could free your party member by using one of the specials attacks/spells like shield bash, assault, dirty fight, cone of cold, glyph of paralisys, or anything that would stun or freeze the the ogre or whatever was overwhelming you...

It annoyed the hell out of me, but loved the idea...

My reaction upon seeing the first one was the same, when I killed it I was like "WTF?" especially because I am playing on hard........

Yes, Revenants are nowhere near the feared opponents they were in Origins, and you meet a great many more before you adventure is over. 'tis saddening really. Revenant fights used to be cool things and I was kept on my toes, yes I was. Now it's just throw a few abilities at it and watch it die. Arcane Horrors deal more damage than them, but are obviously weaker.

Of the fights involving Revenants I think the Golem cave near Sundermount was the most challenging for me, simply because two of them spawned along with an Arcane Horror.

I played on Hard too, before anyone decides to call me on casual difficulty.

Oh those revenants in Act 3 will mess. you. up. I'm telling you.
Take forever to kill. Take down anyone in melee range in about two hits. Their ranged attack does some crazy AoE damage that can take down your weaker characters in seconds (It can be avoided though if you're fast).

Had to try and fight them one by one to manage. And only then, barely.

To be fair, revenants were pretty boring to fight in DAO. Hard yes, but boring.

Ok, I'll... just auto attack till you die and outheal your damage, then.

It is working as intended except you had to press quite a few buttons. Normally you only press a button, something awesome happens, and begin looting.
