You've got two options here:
1) Deal with it.
2) Trade it in and pay the difference for another game.
There's no one to blame but yourself if you dislike a game so much you feel like every penny spent was a complete waste of money. We all knew what the game was going to be like prior to spending the full MSRP. There were more than one way you could have played the game prior to purchasing it. The smartest and cheapest method was to download the demo. It was available on Playstation Network for PS3, Xbox Live Marketplace for Xbox 360, and the official Dragon Age II website for PC. If you don't have broadband internet an alternative free route would to be to wait until a friend purchased it and played it over his or her house. The last method and most importantly the most expensive would have been to rent it. 5 day rentals run no more than $8 from most video stores. You could probably just do a 1 day rental for around $2 if you just wanted to get a "taste" of the game to see if it was worth purchasing and wasn't wanting to rent it for a full playthrough. If you don't have a console, since PC games can't be rented, you could call up a friend and asked them if you could come over and play Dragon Age II on their PS3, then go and do a 1 day rental. This may sound kind of rude, but if none of these apply to you, and especially if you don't have a couple bucks to rent the game first, then to be honest, buying video games should be your last priority right now. Right now I'm unemployeed and have been for over a year now, yet I still find a way to come up with $8 to go rent a game here and there for 5 days.

Sales is what counts. A game that sells 4 million units with a metascore rating of 99 doesn't do as good as a game that sells 8 million units with a metascore rating of 54.

Except the publisher will probably take all the money a game with a 54 makes.

"Bring back fully scripted dialogue."
Fully-scripted dialogue and MC voice-acting likely cannot coincide. Given it's implementation in DAII, however, I was pleasantly surprised by how effective the dialogue system was. Assume that Bioware will never release another game with a silent protagonist - DAII is about as good as we can hope for in that department, which I find promising.
"Bring back mature, developed, adult personalities."
While I adored Origins' cast, I believe that DAII's cast improved in this area. Origins was far more dependant on familiar fantasy tropes, such as the Ogrehn's "drunken dwarf" or Wynne's "wise mentor". DAII features characters that outwardly appear to fulfill a trope, only to surprise you with a facet of their personality they've been hiding for years. DAII easily told the most mature story Bioware has ever crafted, with characters that cross the line between good and evil more times than is "convenient to the story". Look past the copious blood and fanservice and you'll experience a mature, thoughtful story.
"Bring back diverse dungeons and not copy-pasted level design."
I agree completely. I think Bioware will definitely get this message.
"Bring back party itemisation."
I agree. I miss being able to customize my party. If they want accessibility, they should provide an "auto-equip" option or something.
"Bring back Dragon Age."
Dragon Age, as a franchise, as a world, is Bioware's to craft to their liking. You may think you know what dragon Age is - a hardcore, loving homage to Baldur's gate - but you'd be wrong. Allow this franchise to come unto its own - if you don't like the direction it inevitably takes, you don't have to play it.

So what? DragonAge is a prequel to MassEffect.Humans dominate in the end and become the new Blight. We know that because in ME2 a wise prophet is saying :
You sir you are a blight.
You see? It does have a good DEEP story when you put your mind into it.

Thank **** that this game has bombed straight out of the sales charts, then, eh?
They made a small quick profit on preorders but now that word has gotten around about how bad it is, it's hurtling toward the bargain bin faster than you can PRESS A FOR AWESOME.

Here are some average user ratings from other sites(I averaged out the 3 platform scores for each):
1UP: A
IGN: 7.8
Gamespot: 7.6
Gametrailers: 9.3
Gamepro: 3/5
The "Enjoyometer" taken on the BW forums by a user: 7.5
I also did a bit of research on the Metacritic scores. Follwoing the user review purge due to multi-accounts, I decided to see if more remained. I found that of the reviews in the 0-4 range or "bad" on metacritic that I looked at, 45 of the users had not reviewed or rated anything besides DA2. This is obviously not proof of multi-accounts, but it certainly supports te theory.

Problem is you can't get a qualified rating from users. At least not as a whole. Some users may give a qualified rating, but there are too many who just try to manipulate. I personally am a bit disappointed but I'd still give it about 81-83/100. Because it is a quality product, just not as good as I would have liked it. I personally think anyone rating this game higher than 9/10 or lower than 6/10 is just trying to manipulate. Because in my opinion that's the scope that 'personal taste' allows.JrayM16 wrote...

COMMON GUYS! Stop being so naive! You don't think that while makaing this game the whole development team didn't know that they are copy and pasting dungeons? Or that they took out party member items and thought it was a bad idea?
The simple truth is that world building takes time and money. Having items for various characters takes time to design and balance and that takes even more money.
Not showing us these "decisions" during gameplay videos and then LOCKING the inventory in the demo so that we can't see it before making the purchase was just sleazy.
EA and BioWare knew EXACTLY what they were doing. They don't have to learn from this. They did thin on purpose. They knew that people loved part one and that they will buy part 2 solely based on the success of the original.
They saved a ton of money and sold a ton of copies.
Then the community backlash came.
Part 3 will be DA2 with all the features from Origins making a comeback and BioWare will tell us. "You spoke out and we listened." And everyone will rush to buy the game.
Great money making strategy, great PR and marketing BUT very sleazy treatment of your fans.
I hope you go out of business when all your fans turn towards other games.

DA O is one of my favorite games and I like the sequel. It wasn't as deep as the first game and it kind of pailed in comparison to it's predecessor, but It could've been far worse in my opinion.
EA rushed Bioware out of greed and that's what isn't right. But in the end Bioware is going to make the game they want to make because they know that they can't possibly give everyone want they want.
So if you naysayers are upset now and are shaking your fists at Bioware and hoping the game fails, be prepared to get you panties in a bunch again if and when they ever release DA 3 and it's not 100%, 90% or even 50% of what you wanted in the next sequel. The world doesn't revolve about what we want. They listen to some of our suggestions and give us what they want to give us and hope to make a profit out of it. Get used to it.

I'm sorry, why does anyone think Metacritic is reliable? I mean, hey you can like or hate or think the game is somewhere in between but shouldn't people take a look at some reviews and make their own decision? I think DA2 is pretty awesome.
I rated DA2 1/10 next to unplayable. Haven't though been bothered to make a review on metacritic.
It's not unplayable and doesn't deserve a score that low. Play Gothic IV, that's a far better candidate for so low a rating, even though that one doesn't deserve a one or zero either, maybe 3/10.
A game what I can't play I rate 0/10.
Games are meant to be played. DA2 I rated 1/10 because of companions, hence the words next to unplayable. It has got one another award too. The worst game I have ever bought.
Anyway, we don't need tons of different game reviews. You just tell what rating each game is. After a while you can begin to rate other things in life, like food, books, music, movies, and so on.
Edit: HAHA, I am too tired to laugh, but this is so absurd that someone tells me a rating I give to something is wrong. LOOOOOOL.
Amazing. I will have to ask tomorrow from some of my friends "how do you rate movie X". After they tell me I tell them "you are wrong."
I usually don't "rate" stuff. And I'm not saying a rating is "wrong" merely shaking my head at it because I've played some god awful truly BROKEN games (Which is why I mentioned Gothic IV. Heck, "The Guild" is another one of those horrors.) Play "The Guild" and "Gothic IV" to see what I mean. Lotsa hyperbole......fascinating, really. Again, I am not saying you are wrong, I'm merely not convinced. (That matters not, I'm just gobsmacked by the hyperbole and the idea that this is "the worst game ever"......
There can be worse games. I don't however have any.

The user score is not. It is made irrelevant by the review bombing that has been done to the game by fans who aren't giving an honest evaluation, but just acting like spoilt kids, upset the game is not what they wanted it to be.
The design choices do not make it a worse game. The corners that appear to have been cut do. But they do not make it a BAD game. They certainly don't put it in the 0-4 range. Everyone's entitled to their opinion, but anyone who's opinion is that the game deserves a 0 is WRONG.

Accept that 0/10 is irrelevant and cannot be taken seriously, I too am dissapointed with the direction they took this game, but it's still worth a 7/10 in my opinion, and I'm not even a Bioware fan, but perhaps that's the reason I can judge it fairly, the devs deserve some points for effort.moilami wrote...
