when you take ike's tour from that new village in durlag's tower - the demonknight appears just at the end of it and casts high level deadly fireballs twice and then dimention doors - at this point this version of him CANNOT BE KILLED OR FOUND IN THE GAME - thus you cannot get the helmet ever again...
... what you can do here... buffer your party with as many damage bonuses as you can plus haste, just before that make them all equip 'no weapon' or if their weapon slots are full take off their main weapon.
As soon as he appears you can cast the sphere on him (quicksave just before in case he resists) then attack ASAP - hopefully if you do enough damage quick enough he will fall unconcious, and then once the sphere is down - KABLAMMO with a normal weapon. 1 hit death.
The helmet is yours for the fun of it - nice to use with the sex change belt for a lot of fun altogether XD
