I'm sure this has been posted somewhere but I was unable to locate it. So here I go. The game is crashing every time I meet the first NPC's in the Dead Trenches, I'm guessing its about to do a cut scene, and this is whats causing the crash. So far if I ran into a problem like this before I've been able to simply just restart the game or restart the game with all setting to low and the game would run without fail past the normal crash area. So just seeing if anyone has had the same problem and knows anyway to fix it or work around it?

All drivers updated, game is patched,etc.....

Check out the stickies and try downloading the Toolset for the Toolset Workaround.

Although it may be a tiny spoiler, please do remember in the future to add *Spoiler* to any thread you make that may contain information about in game events.

Have you tried setting an affinity for the game? I have gone through all the drivers / settings I could. I have had the best results setting an affinity so the game is only running on 1 core.

Well I did try once but it crashed at the same spot, but is there anyway to make it stay only using one core, without having to set it in task manager everytime you load the game?

Well somehow with the help of the Maker I managed not to crash at this spot after one of my hundred attempts....I just ranged everything tell it died and then walked up to the crash area and amazingly NO CRASH!! I found the Dead Trenches to be the worst I've came across so far for crashes, etc. Kinda sad cause it is actually a very action packed and fun part of the game. Well in due time the devs will hopefully get this game all fixed up. I have not enjoyed a game as much as this one in a long time, but I also have not had to work my way around bugs and crashes this much in any game that I can recall as of late.

I'm having the same problem here, but what differs is when I save be it quick save or menu save the game crashes. I've tried affinity, it didn't work for as well as the download to set video driver 50 increment lower. I'm running 2 quad core 2.8ghz xeon, 16gb ram, nvidia 8800gt. I can get through that part of the game with all the settings low but as soon as I save, it just crashes. Any help would be great.

Same here! In the Dead Trenches, as soon as I save (quick or other) the game crashes. I set a difficulty down to easy so I wouldn't have to save but there's an auto save after some 'action' which makes the game, yup you guessed it... CRASH! Having enjoyed this game all the way up to this point, the magic has gone :( I've tried everything I can think of and am now frustrated which is a real shame, like I said I was enjoying it! Please help if anyone can :) ?

I've uninstalled and reinstalled everything with no luck. Same crashing problem at dead trenches. At this point I've stopped playing the game since I've finished everything else including side missions. I have the collectors edition and all dlc if that helps someone tell me what I can try.

Spoilers!!!! ok, here's what I did and I don't know if that's what caused it to work. I went to Denerim and reduced the video to 1280x1024 and all low settings sync off and buffering unchecked. I did missions I didn't want to do through the bartender and did a lot of saves not quicksaves. I went back to camp several times finished off gaxkang. Then finally to dead trenches and did saves as I went along and it worked. After the bridge battle and when in the tunnels bumped up my resolution to high, detail high still 1280x1024, sync check and buffering check. Much like Dartmist's post it worked for some reason.

I have had the same problem. Basically if I turn all graphics down, affinity on, set the game to easy and let the NPC's fight the battle while my guys hide well away, then my machine gets through the battle. Then as soon as I do anything - try to leave the area, save the game or speak to NPC it crashes. Like Skelanimals I have a Nvidia 8800GT card. I also have dual core CPU. Having tried this 20 different times I think I might have try the Denerim option :) - or wait for a patch :(
