Well this is something i have decided to share.
I have just finished DA:O, a game has never gripped me so much. I have a weird
feeling that no game i have ever played in the past has made me feel, its a low
sinking feeling wondering what’s happened to my character and morrigan, i have
really immersed my self in this game and created a story along the way - from
how he rose to be a grey warden to the end battle.
So much so that i scrambled for the DLC of witch hunt, i had to see the end !
I have DA:2 on order and cant wait for it to arrive, i heave read alot of
negative reviews but if the story is as powerful as DA:O im sure im going to be
playing that for days to come !
Completely agree. Reading the epilogue at the end of your first playthrough really gives that shiver up your spine... In fact, even after multiple playthroughs, talking to the characters before the final battle in Denerim still gives that odd feeling...
DA2 is dreadful. The story is non-existent. I'm back to playing DAO.

Did you playthrough with Awakenings attached?
I decided to skip awakening as it doesn't really provide any background to the old characters so i read.
Unless i am mistaken and leads to DA2 ?
You should play through Origins -> Awakenings -> Golems of Amgarrak -> Witch Hunt
That's the only order you can play all 4 'campaigns' and still import to DA2. I would certainly get Awakenings before DA2 - DA2 is not very good at all. I would recommend playing the above 4 campaigns in order, importing each time and then buying and importing your Witch Hunt file into DA2. I wouldn't buy DA2 now though - aside from a few references, it's completely different to Origins.

So looking forward to it and go all the way with dlc and awakenings.
Got time now to do it and to me DA 2 was more of meh, so i am quite excited right now.
Pondering on a mage, hmmm will see what it will be in 20 mins or so. Coffe and some cakes comming up before I let myself slip into the DA world once more.

Never heard it put so succinctly, but this sums it up.astrallite wrote...
DA2 takes place in an area about the size of Orzammar. It's not a big game, there's no "big goal", it's just a reality tv show and most of it is the story of your life of doing fedex quests.

In my experience, gaming companies (in the RPG realm at least) make one epic masterpiece, and while some of their other efforts may be fantastic, they always fail to live up to the magic of that one special game. The only exception I've personally found to that rule has been the Final Fantasy series. They had a small number of epics (IV, VI, VII, VIII and IX). But Bethesda had it with Morrowind, Mistwalker studios had Lost Odyssey, and Bioware have DA:O.
Good to see someone else has good taste in RPGs

If you're depressed about the whole Morrigan-thing, I would get the Witch Hunt DLC. You've probably heard it's super short and it doesn't add a lot as far as new information, but if Morrigan was your gal throughout the Origins it provides the closure you're likely missing.

Finishing the game left me with a feeling of depression and emptiness. All of the characters felt like real people, and I felt like I was saying goodbye to all my friends. I guess this is a testament to the absolutely amazing writing this game has.
Right now I'm trying to decide whether to continue with awakening or start another origins playthrough.
As for Dragon age 2, from what I've heard and from playing the demo it seems like they butchered everything that was great about Origins.

Just started my second play through as my copy of DA2 still hasn't reached me yet.
Its strange, this play through everything seems more powerful - obviously cant mention certain events due to spoilers but i think you can guess what early on ones i mean, This game is just amazing - instead of rushing the story i am taking my time to do every side quest and speak to every NPC. I have found out so much more about the characters i play along side. Never seen a game with so much replay value, im amazed
Now the next difficult decition, who do i go for
Go for Leliana. She's amazing<3

I also felt like I could kill a dragon with a punch to the face.
